I totally forgot to do my review back on 30 December 2025. We stopped for dinner and it seemed like everyone had the same idea that night.

The diner was full and we waited outside. Unfortunately for us it was a little on the brisk side but it was okay. Inside, it was packed to the seams with people so it made movement a little hard but fortunately for us, we got a corner booth near the bathroom which was a blessing with kiddos.

As for the food, overall, it’s not bad. I wouldn’t say that it’s five star but it was good. I got the mushroom Swiss burger and my wife got the chili dog with fries. Our kids got grilled cheese.

So the burger, the was cooked perfectly giving it that medium tenderness which is great but the cheese and mushrooms weren’t melted or sautéed in order to hold together. The buns could’ve used a bit of a toasting too. Still ate it because I was starving. Hunger is the best flavor to anything.

The chili dog. My wife still loved it cause we were hungry but one recommendation is to place mustard on the center of the bun then top it with a balance of chili and onions. Seemed like an onion dog with the amount on it. Still edible though.

The fries, these were really good! The crunch to softness was on bit and when you bite into a fry to get a solid yet crisp crunch with the savory softness in the middle, you’ve found the right temp and time for cooking. Also, thankfully, nothing was greasy or dripping with grease like car in a shop. This shows a care for the food to be good and not something you’ll regret later.

The 50’s vibes are pretty chill especially with the music and the small diner that Mel’s is. What I would probably recommend is that during the spring through fall, expand the outside a little more for outside seating or even drive-in style parking area to bring those days of hanging your tray on the window to eat in your car back.

Overall, not a bad place to grab a bite to eat. Just keep in mind that it’s a popular spot in town and it’s right beside a sandwich shop and a grocery store which isn’t a total mood killer.

Looking forward to seeing where Mel’s goes in the next few years when we come back through Pigeon Forge.

While visiting the area, we went to Mel’s Diner on 1/19/26. There were only us, and one other couple there but this time of year is “off-season” so we were not surprised. The diner isn’t very big, but the decor is cute, the atmosphere is good, and some good tunes were playing! Our server (can’t recall her name, but the receipt says “Term2”) was great. She definitely knew the menu well and made recommendations for us. Everything was great. My husband’s club sandwich was piled high! If/when we return to the area, we’d would stop again.

The service was great, the food was fresh & good. Simple and exactly what we needed this week. We had the mozzarella sticker which were delicious, burger was good, club sandwiches was a perfect ratio of ingredients, the Philly was really tasty, the chicken strips were nothing special and very basic would probably not get them again, but…. overall was a good meal.

Our first time eating here, and it sure was great! The staff is so friendly, always smiling and welcoming. The waitress and her trainee stayed on top of everything, constantly checking in with us. Even for it being very busy, the food came out quick with very little wait time. The food, absolutely delicious, with many items to choose from & on the menu , it is highlighted with customers top picks! I definitely recommend it, from staff, the food, the atmosphere, can’t go wrong!

Great old fashioned type diner. Really good food and fast service. Tabby was our waitress and did a great job. I had the Big Bopper bacon cheese burger, and I don’t know what they do to their bacon but it’s some of the best I’ve ever had.

Our group visited Mel’s Diner the weekend before Presidents Day. It was our first trip to Pigeon Forge and our first meal after what felt like a long, treacherous drive.

We were immediately greeted and seated, and everyone was incredibly friendly. We had two tables, and our server did an excellent job taking care of both.

I ordered the two-piece catfish with mac and cheese and coleslaw — it was delicious, and the price was less than I expected. Others in our party also commented on how excellent their meals were.

We had a great experience at Mel’s Diner. This is exactly what you want from a classic diner – solid comfort food, generous portions, and a fun, throwback atmosphere that makes you want to linger a bit longer.

The malts and root beer floats were a big hit with our crew and felt like a requirement, not an option. Everything tasted like proper diner food done right, not overthought, just well executed and satisfying.

As a big family, pricing matters, and this was very reasonable for the amount of food and quality we got. It’s refreshing to find a place that can handle a larger group without feeling chaotic or overpriced.

Great food, great vibes, and a place we’d happily return to next time we’re in the area.

My wife and I decided to try this placed on good reviews. And we really like trying different breakfast places. We are visiting from out of town and this seem to be a good place. And we were not disappointed. I had the Friends with beef tips Nice picture. And my wife had the egg white omelet as pictured as well. We both loved it. It was very busy when we went but the service was still good and we ate at the counter. We can tell everything was made fresh from the hash browns to the steak and fresh veggies. The prices were actually reasonable as well. Service was very good. I highly recommend and I would definitely be back if I was in the area or lived here.

I must say that breakfast at Mel’s Diner was very good. Our server Alyssa was very friendly and attentive. Which made our experience even better. I do recommend anyone planning on coming for breakfast to arrive early. My family and I were there before 9:30am. People started to arrive shorty after our arrival. I ment to take a picture of my food prior to taking a few bites.

After visiting Ripley’s Aquarium in Gatlinburg, we decided to go to Mel’s Diner for dinner. For my meal, I ordered the country fried steak, which comes with two sides and Texas toast. I chose mac and cheese and fried okra for my sides. I thought that the country fried steak was crunchy, peppery, and hearty. The mac was extremely cheesy, the way mac should be. The okra and toast were just like any other. My cousin got the James Works burger, which is topped with chili, bacon, and mushrooms with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. He got it with no mushrooms and enjoyed it. My cousin’s girlfriend got the biscuit and gravy with two eggs and bacon. She loved it. My dad got the bacon cheeseburger, and he thought it was delicious. My mom got the Cajun burger and enjoyed it. Overall, I would highly recommend going to Mel’s for a delicious meal.
