This place was so nice! The food was great! Nice thick juicy burgers! It is now under new ownership (about one week before our experience there). The ladies cooking in the kitchen were very nice and accommodating. I had a veggie burger, which are usually dry… This one was very thick, flavorful and juicy! My husband had the jalapeno burger…very good!

Great decor! They thought of every detail! Neat 50’s music… wall hangings… even the cute tissue paper in the basket under burger and fries! BTW…fries were great! Not greasy.

Ice cream cone at the end of our meal. Old fashion scoops! Very nice place! Will definitely go there again when visiting Ashland! Great job ladies! Keep up the great cooking!
PS- Great homemade HUGE peanut butter cookies too!

I visited twice. First time was two years ago in the old location. MUCH BETTER EXPERIENCE. Second time was this weekend. I have never written a review. But after my experience I felt compelled. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Maybe it was just an off night for the crew. I only saw two people working in a diner about half full. I’ll break it down

Service: slow and bad. I NEVER got my Diet Coke. Eventually I just stopped asking. we had four couples. Each bill was wrong. Items were double charged, and charged to the wrong people.

Atmosphere: Stale. Actually, couldn’t wait to leave.
Fries: homemade style. Not bad, just average, passable. I didn’t finish them. (I always finish my food)
Burger: average. Really soft bun. Not bad. Disappointing.
Milk shake: runny, with small ice chunks. Not good. I didn’t finish it.

Special note! Do not order the “GREAT BALLS OF FIRE BURGER!” I always try hot burgers. I love hot stuff. But this was OFF THE CHARTS. PAINFUL. and I had burning diarrhea for over 24 hours. While eating I wiped my face with a napkin. I managed to get pepper juice in my eye. I spent the next 5 minutes washing my eyes out in the bathroom sink.

I’m assuming that the burger was made wrong. If not, they NEED to offer a HUGE disclaimer. This was literally the hottest thing I have ever eaten.

Buddies has new owners as of 2013. This made a HUGE difference. The food is excellent now, and I go here almost every week. You can tell they really care about the restaurant and enjoy maintaining it. They do a great job with everything. This is one of my two favorite restaurants in Ashland.

The fries are great. The decor is nice and 50’s ish. But they smash and burn the burgers until they are paper thin and crispy burnt on the edge. Burgers are made of MEAT for a reason. Let us taste them by not burning them. PLEASE.

The absolute best burgers in town, hands down! Great 50’s atmosphere and swift service highlight Buddy’s delicious food. Its no competition, this is my favorite restaurant in the Northwoods. Try for yourself and find what you’ve been missing!

Food is good, milkshakes are so think you can turn it upside down.

Staff and food is good, could use some healthier options though.
