When Elliott Moss and Meherwan Irani came together to open Buxton Hall Barbecue, the fried chicken sandwich stole the hearts of many, including the editors of Bon Appetit Magazine, who named it the best fried chicken sandwich in the country. Ever since then we’ve had the dream of giving that beloved sandwich its own restaurant.For our first chicken palace, we are very excited to be a part of the rebirth of the S&W Market – a building that has been an architectural icon in Asheville since the 20s. We hope this is just the beginning of spreading little chicken palaces wherever the desire for delicious fried chicken sandwiches may be.

I really wanted to love this. The S&W building is gorgeous, a wonderful place to eat. The man who took my order was very friendly.
Unfortunately my chicken was very mediocre and the fries were so overcooked that they were inedible. Hard as bricks. I actually did go and ask for better fries. Again, the front worker was real nice and a new batch was given to me in exchange, but other than a few small ones on top which were just a little overcooked the second batch was also super overdone and hard.

Finally made it. Fresh hot fried chicken, crisp lettuce, and chilled tomato make the sandwich fresh and enjoyable. Fries cooked to perfection.

We came to the S&W Market and was happy to see the choices that were available. I chose the Buxton Chicken Palace to grab a quick meal at and was not disappointed. I got the Buxton Original Chicken Sandwich without dill pickles and a side of The Fries. I got a water cup, which was a cup filled with ice that I could refill at the water station near the bathrooms, which I was fine with. The person working got my order in quick, and my food was given to me in minutes. The food itself was delicious! The sandwich was thick, juicy, and tender, as a fried chicken sandwich should be. The fries were also good and seasoned well. I honestly found it to be a lot of food and shared it with my family. I really liked my experience here. I definitely want to try more in the S&W Market!

I had chicken tenders and fried pickles. Tenders were tasty, I loved the fact that they were not salty. Pickles were salty, I brought them to my hotel and enjoyed with beer. The store hour on google map said they close at 5pm, but I ordered around 6:30pm, so not sure what is the correct store hour is. The S&W market foot court itself shows closing time as 8pm. It was pretty dark&quiet when I visited on Tuesday dinner time

I had a Nashville hot sandwich with bacon and cheese, fries, and the sauces (house made palace, honey mustard, and ranch).
By far the freshest and tastiest fried chicken I’ve had in a long long time. The fries were cooked and seasoned perfectly. All three sauces complimented the sandwich and fries perfectly!

Started off just bad. The girl that took our order was not friendly at all. It then took almost 30 minutes to actually get our food. The original sandwich was mediocre and the fries were so over done the were bricks and inedible. The only decent thing was the ranch but was a very small portion. For the price of a sandwich and fries it was way overpriced.

I was finally able to eat at Buxton because by chance they had gluten free fries! (Not celiac friendly, but good for me!)
The seasoning was a house blend that was SUPER good. And the service was so friendly and very accommodating!!

Oh man! Waffle fries- Check! Chicken Burger – Check! Chicken bites- check! Tasty- Check! The chicken burger was one of the best I’ve eaten. Great spicy seasoning , crunch and like a thousand island meets Mayo sort of lettuce sauce slathered on. Slice of cheese- perfect bite. The waffles fries were one of my favorites as well. The same spicy seasoned dusting on the chicken burger was on the waffle fries- only negative thing……. Not enough fries! Soooooooo good!! Definitely a place to eat at! The cherry bourbon slushie- probably could have done without it…. But overall food- 2 thumbs up!
