I recently had the pleasure of dining at Dakota on the Cove in the Bronx with my brother, and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience from start to finish! This hidden gem on the water offers a perfect blend of cozy ambiance, stunning views, and top-notch Italian-inspired cuisine that left us raving for days.
We kicked things off with drinks at the bar, and they did not disappoint. I opted for the local Bronx Brewery Pilsner, which was crisp, refreshing, and perfectly balanced— a true nod to the neighborhood’s brewing scene. My brother went for the White Mistletoe specialty cocktail, a festive, smooth concoction that had just the right hint of holiday cheer without being overpowering. It set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
For appetizers, we shared the mozzarella en carozza, which was golden, crispy on the outside, and oozing with melty cheese inside—pure comfort food elevated to gourmet levels. The Caesar salad was fresh, tangy, and generously topped with shaved Parmesan and crunchy croutons, making it the ideal light start.
Our mains were showstoppers: the glazed salmon was flaky, perfectly cooked, and drizzled with a sweet-savory glaze that paired beautifully with the sides. My brother’s chicken cutlet pasta with linguine was hearty and flavorful, with tender cutlets in a rich sauce that had us both stealing bites. Every dish was prepared with care, using fresh ingredients that shone through in every bite.
We couldn’t resist ending on a sweet note with the cannoli—crisp shells filled with creamy ricotta, dusted with powdered sugar, and just the right amount of chocolate chips. Divine!
The service was impeccable; our server was attentive, friendly, and full of great recommendations without being intrusive. The whole staff made us feel like family. If you’re in the Bronx looking for a spot to impress or just unwind, Dakota on the Cove is a must-visit. We’ll be back soon—five stars all the way!

My new favorite dinner date spot. Iris and her team of professionals made our #1stDate experience wonderfully perfect. On a chilly autumn evening the temperature, lighting, mood, and ambiance of this casual dining room offered us the right amount of music volume to allow us to speak and really get to know each other and the staff made us feel at home and delivered timely service, accurately executed, hot & delicious offerings. We kept it simple by splitting the tuna tostado, tonight’s special harvest salad and the crab cakes. The portions were great and the flavors were outstanding. A little pinot noir some sparkling Saratoga water with lemon & lime wedges and that’s all we needed to satiate & satisfy our palates. The newly decorated outdoor seating with fire pit tables were the right touch to cap off the evening with a lil’ romantic spin. Thank you everyone for putting an exclamation point on an already terrific date and night out. We will be back!! #LocalGem #GoodEats #theresthatfoodie #AVTeats

The inside of the restaurant has an updated, really cute, modern look overlooking the water, and the service and food were great! Everyone was so kind and it seems they have put considerable effort into curated menus (including a Valentine’s themed drink menu) and events!

We stopped in to Dakota’s on the Cove tonight on a whim. Driving home from P.A., stuck in massive traffic on the C.B.E. ( shocker) and starving, I checked my GPS to see what restaurants were nearby. Lucky enough we were a quarter mile from the last exit before the Throgsneck bridge because as soon as you got off, the restaurant was within View.
Talk about timing….We were able to get a seat in a booth by the bar. The view of the sunset on the bridge was spectacular. They also have an outdoor deck with seating and a HUGE beautiful Biergarten with a bar, picnic tables, Adirondack chairs , fire pits and a big screen TV.!
Our drink order was taken and a basket of bread placed on the table. Our drinks came immediately and we placed our dinner order. We ordered the Fried Shrimp basket which came with french fries and the Herb Grilled chicken which came with vegetables and roasted potatoes. Everything was delicious. I have to say, the grilled chicken was one of the best I’ve ever had. The marinade gave it such an incredible flavor.
We were lucky enough to meet one of the owners, Raul who checked in on us sporadically throughout the night. We made sure to let him know how much we loved his restaurant. I wish we lived closer because he told us about all of the different events they host. For the month of October, they literally have a pumpkin patch out back! So cool.
We are going to make it a point to stop here on the way home from all of our trips from now on. As easy as we got off the highway, we got back on to go over the bridge. It was perfect!
P.S, Raul, Please don’t take that herb grilled chicken off the menu!!! Till next time!

Our company hosted a scheduled corporate luncheon with 30 guests. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disorganized and disappointing corporate dining experiences our team has ever had

Picture of dumplings food and code of plate

1. Restaurant Beautiful
2. They only had ginger ale in cup no pitchers. Ran out of other sodas
3. Tap water in beautiful crystal vases
4. Water glasses smelled like old men sweating
5. They ran out of penne Al vodka for 9 guests out of 30
6. They serviced us kiddie portion they called it a lunch plate for 49.99.
7. Cod the size of a fish stick
8. Everyone had a different size piece of chicken
9. Owner never told guest they ran out of food and substitute with nasty sour spaghetti
10. Owner said based on what company paid for that what they got.
11. Take out was dumped in a container no foul
Or parchment paper on bottom

We were treated like dirt.

Definitely had a great time, some of our plates were a little off, the penne Ala vodka needed a little more flavor it was bland, the shrimp scampi little more butter and lots lemon . The shrimp basket were perfect.
Issue was with the coffee, please make sure you ask for it hot.

The food was absolutely out of this world. The ambiance is something out of a fishing town village. Marina , Throggs Neck bridge and the water 10/10. The backyard is absolutely beautiful and inviting. My only complaint is the service and that’s a big one for me. We waited exactly 15mins to get bread & water. Finally when the woman taking care of our table came over . We ordered food and drinks. It took her about 20-25 mins to come check on us. At this time we were already done with food and our first drinks. Ordered a 2nd round. Then took her another 20-25mins to ask if if we wanted anything else and or the check. We had already asked the manager for the check. The service was lacking. That upset me because everything else is up to par. I’ll go back again but is the service hasn’t improved. It will be my last time going to Dakota on the cove.

Ordered reasonably priced appetizers & drinks in the outside Beer Garden. It was a beautiful warm sunny day. Food & service was excellent. Great music playing in the background & two large screens playing sports games.

It was my first time at this restaurant. Decided to go on this 4th of July because it had some good reviews. To my surprise, I was very disappointed with their food. The service was great, manager Raul was very attentive as well as the waitress. They were very kind and friendly and professional. The food itself was not the best, the linguine and crusted chicken was not cooked properly, and very little taste and linguine was a little dry. The Manhattan clam chowder was not really a Manhattan Clam chowder you can tell by the picture I have posted, was very watery. The fried calamari was ok not the best, I have had better. The Mussels Marinara, was the best of the entire food we had. For someone who travels a lot and eats and reviews many restaurants, I was disappointed in their food, The place is very clean beautiful. I met the owners who were very friendly and welcome myself to their restaurant. As a business owner myself I value the hospitality and respect and caring, they had this. I think they need a chef with more experience because one plate, I had to return and the plate replaced was still not the best. Don’t get me wrong but this place can be a gem in the Bronx, if the cooking is much better.
