The last couple times I have ordered from here have been subpar. I order the stew chicken and side of fried chicken. Although the portions are great and I get my food very fast, the quality of the food is very much lacking. Fried chicken is basically soggy chicken, and tastes very old. Seems like I received yesterday’s batch reheated. Stew chicken also tastes very old and not fresh at all. Not many Jamaican restaurants in New Britain and I see why. I would love to keep supporting but not if the quality remains like this. Just unacceptable.

Too much scotch Bonnet pepper in everything i cooks even drink a ginger ale with my stew chicken dinner rice and peas isn’t supposed to accent the rice and peas not overtake like a jerk chicken and the cabbage need some love the white on top of the chicken is the cabbage big thick and uncooked

Stopped in here to try a Jamaican beef patty while taking care of some business in the area and ended up noticing they had some really good-looking chicken.
I ended up leaving with the chicken and the beef patty, both of which were to my satisfaction & to my liking.
The staff here was courteous. I’ll be back here in the future…

My first impression walking in was wow! The smells coming from the kitchen were amazing. I couldn’t believe how good it smelled in there. Excellent service and generous portion sizes. I will eat there again! Thank you for an excellent meal!

Uncle Ben’s is SO GOOD. From the food, to the restaurant, to the service. When I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised. The place is clean, multiple people working the front, service was fast. I got the oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage. The oxtail was delicious, tender, meat fell right off the bone. Cabbage was fresh and crunchy, rice was good too had good flavor. This is a newer spot so there aren’t as many reviews as there should be but this place is a hidden gem. More people should check it out!!! You won’t be disappointed.

01/10/26 ackee and saltfish was nasty, soft and yucky, tasted old with no flavor, I threw it away. Kidney was just ok , they have made better before.

A little disappointed they didn’t have Mac and cheese on the menu. The curry goat was really good. The steamed veggies I wasn’t a big fan of. I will be back though for the ox tail.

Uncle Ben’s is my spot. These ladies see my at least once a week for the usual 2 large soups, box of jerk, side of veg and a snapper.
The food tastes delicious, the place is clean and well kept, service is fast compared to a lot of other Caribbean restaurants. (IYKYK lol) the amount of food is great value to the size/price. The ladies that work the counter are always engaging, kind and funny.
Great place good food and the soup is what keeps me coming back the most though everything I have eaten outside of that has been great as well.
Really good spot for this cuisine in this town.

I went to Uncle Ben’s on Friday to get mi sum oxtail because mi been craving them. Only to be so disappointed they were tough , fatty, and barely any meat pon dem. This isn’t the 1st time this has happen but its been awhile so mi thought it would be better but it wasn’t. Oxtail aren’t cheap so it was a waste of money.
