My husband and I came to DC for a little getaway and this place was I walking distance from our hotel. The vibe was great. We got free shots upon entering. The spicy tequila was really good. We ordered 2 margaritas, passionfruit and strawberry. They were really good. Especially the passion fruit. Now to the food. We had Birria Tacos, Cali fries w steak, and the chicken burrito and for desserts, Churos. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. Everything was simply AMAZING!! We will definitely be coming again the next time we’re in DC.

I actually went to DC to go to the Mimosa festival since I missed it listening to my fiance lol so we decided to find a bar and we ended up here.at Rubens it was pretty busy when we got there but we have served right away drinks for good food was good and had great specials great music hope to visit again soon even the security guard outside was very nice and friendly. We did leave to go somewhere else but ended the night right back here we ordered some loaded fries picture in my other phone but they were the best loaded fries I’ve ever had well most definitely be back

Really liked Ruben’s Taco Tuesday deal!!! I came in looking for a different restaurant but found this one appealing as a tiny side restaurant in the popular DuPont Circle Area. The taco Tuesday deal is 1.99 per taco on Tuesdays! I thought it was a good deal for what it was. I really liked the chorizo taco out of all three (steak and chicken being the other ones). I would probably come back just for that taco in the future.
On top of that, I really loved the hot sauce they had. It was really good and added a really nice kick to the taco.
I wouldn’t get the horchata again though. While it wasn’t bad, it doubled the cost of my order haha !!

It was my first time going to Ruben’s with a group of friends on Saturday night and they have this promotion going. I don’t know if they have it every weekend or not but they were giving out free shots Only first round they don’t have much of a selection, but the little selection that they do have is phenomenal, I personally got a mango shot and it was so delicious my favorite! And even the owner Ruben was helping out on giving shots great atmosphere and great music to dance to ! Definitely going back to try out there food & more drinks, definitely recommend for anyone and If An is there he will get you right ! Once again thank you Ruben and your staff for a great experience!

The place is cute and quaint, and the music was poppin. I came in looking for Mexican food, and Ruben’s delivered. Simple and hearty, everything looks and tasted delicious, and all for around $10-20 per person. If you’re passing by in Dupont, definitely try it out

Some of the most authentic Mexican flavor I have found in DC.
Tried the birria tacos and it’s a 10/10, way better than the posh Mexican restaurants in the area and at a much better price.
The service was really good, they were very attentive and kind.
Even the music they play makes you feel like México.
PS: The sauce is spicy but it feels a bit generic, like something you would find in the store, maybe a salsa asada would better fit the menu, but I understand they may need to sacrifice some authenticity for the local’s taste.

I attended a Saturday night bachata lesson and social at Rubens. The entry fee came with a free drink, I ended up getting the mango flavored margarita with Tajin rim. Tasty drink and friendly service, as for the dance lesson it was a bit tricky maneuvering in the odd shaped space. However instructor and attendees were helpful and very friendly, would come back again!
