A huge menu with lots of interesting options, including breakfast. The $3.50 tacos are a little bigger than the usual street taco, with a good quantity of meat, cilantro, onions, and guacamole. I got adobada and asada versions which were reasonably tasty and just a little too chewy, with no gristle. The salsa bar is among the very few in Escondido, with five great housemade salsas of varying heat levels, plus radishes, and pickled jalapenos and carrots You can get a plate of hot, fresh tortilla chips for only $2.00. I’d give it five stars if the meats were a little more tender and well-seasoned. Ambiance is plain taqueria with a few tables inside and out, and the service efficient and fast.

I’d recommend. I had the grilled shrimp burrito. The best tasting shrimp I have ever had inside a burrito . So flavorful. Large as well. They have amazing salsa bar with sautéed peppers and onions and other condiments. I loved their hottest salsa a lil spice with flavors. Relaxing indoor or outdoor seating. Portion size 10/10. Atmosphere 10/10. Quality 10/10.

First and last buying here!!! Bought carne asada fries, flautas, and tacos. We asked for guacamole, the sauce, and sour cream on the side and got very little. Like is also dry. Not only that. The container for Carne Asada fries is placed on the box that has a divider, so we didn’t get much of the food due to that. That is 14.99 for a small portion of that food. That’scheating your customer. Oh well. We should have just gone to Albertos.

I tried out this place today. I wasn’t disappointed as I saw a few reviews about the California burrito so that’s what I got. And it is good. Also got an order of rolled tacos. Also good (still think Sayulitas are a little better). I asked for the spiciest salsa and well, that i got. Salsa is spicy just the way I prefer it. Also ordered a cup of champurrado (its average). Overall the carne asada alone has a decent taste compared to other tacos shops around Escondido so for the first time being here i give it 4 stars because the menu is so large so I will come back to explore a few other items on the menu.
Updated: menudo, beef stew (caldo de res) are also very tasty. Bumped it up to 5 stars. Well deserved.

I’ve had a positive experience here the food is amazing. I highly recommend the beef rolled tacos with everything and the mojara the grilled fish it comes with tortillas and rice and beans, and the fries! And the adobada TJ tacos and the Aguas frescas, the staff is friendly and super cool

We came to Santa Ana Fresh Mexican Food to grab a burrito and carne asada fries, and wow, we were not disappointed!
The San Felipe burrito was absolutely delicious. It was a little soggy, but the flavor totally made up for it, SO good! The carne asada fries were loaded with generous portions and hit the spot.
One thing that really stood out to us, they included salsa in our bag even though we completely forgot to ask for any. When we got home and realized it was already in there, we were impressed. They were a step ahead!
Also, shoutout to the young gentleman at the register, super kind and helpful. Great food, great service. Highly recommend!

1st time eating here [I’m from WA]: the achiote taco [pollo] con lettuce is huge I forgot how the big tacos here in Cali are & with double tortillas. Not too bad! The tj style taco is okay. the salsas are spicyyy if you like that! I think everything could’ve used some Avocado on top or a chunky green salsa would’ve been nice. They have plenty on their menu to choose from everyone seems to like the burritos perhaps I should try next time. I also tried the rolled tacos they are SUPER crunchy & the cheese/guac is a must or else it wouldn’t be anything to special. But rolled tacos are a thing here. They are not too pricey so that’s always a plus.

I don’t recommend this place. They charge you extra for food that’s supposed to have the condiments. I got no sour cream or guacamole on a California burrito making it taste dry and that should tell you something.
