The food available here is outstanding! However I do have to say the “food available” for a reason. The first time we came in was late in the evening on father’s day. So when we found out they were out of whole chickens we weren’t entirely surprised, when we found out they were out of cornbread it was annoying, but also not a giant surprise. It would have been nice for the server to have told us this before we ordered, rather than 10 minutes after we ordered causing us to have to grab the menus again and reorder the food. Lack of communication from the back of house and front of house seems to be a theme.
So we went back on a Wednesday, early in the evening, just before your standard dinner crowd to ensure they wouldn’t be out of food.
We ordered their largest meal, the Fat Hog. When it came out we noticed there was only 2 sausages, when we asked about it the server went back and came out and told us they were out of sausage.
Now this happens, when you are running a BBQ place you have to estimate amounts needed and sometimes run out. No worries, but the kitchen staff sent the food out knowing it was missing parts, and then the server served it not having checked that the meal was correct. This is a recurring issue with this location. Again, the back of the house and the serving staff are not communicating.
I also ordered a side of brisket, just some slices of brisket itself, now on the menu there is no option for just some brisket. However they made it work by charging me for it at 3 dollars per side. And the amount was worth the 6 dollars worth I requested, and their brisket is OUTSTANDING!
Overall I will be going back I will just make sure to question if they are out of anything and plan my order based on that info.
Southern Smoked Barbecue has the potential to be an absolutely outstanding, even top tier BBQ restaurant. The only thing currently missing is communication between the staff.
Once they get communication down and get their operating policies down this place is an absolute diamond in the rough just waiting to shine.
I cannot recommend visiting them enough. They are outstanding, just make sure you find out what they are out of and double check what you get to make sure you get the right amounts.
This place has become a go to for us after only 2 visits, and I look forward to many more enjoyable visits and many more mouth water pictures to post.

The smokers are clearly visible in the back of the restaurant. They’re always working on the great selection of meats. My fave is the half rack of baby back ribs and my husband likes the brisket. Everything is delicious and reasonably priced. The corn on the cob is roasted and comes served with the husks pulled back like a handle. They spread a parmesan cheese butter & salt on it too. Delish!!! Highly recommend you try it for great real smoked bbq.

Ribs were the best I’ve ever had at a BBQ place. Had no complaints about the service at all. Absolutely delicious.

After reading the some early I was pleasantly surprised by my first visit! On my first visit I had pulled pork sandwich and it was great. The coleslaw side salad and tater wedges were also fantastic, I have yet to try the other sides. They have two types of BBQ sauce available regular and spicy – I really liked the spicy. They also have as an option sides of wing sauce – try the spicy garlic! We were served drinks within a minute of sitting down and we received our food about 10 minutes after ordering and this was during lunch time when there are many other people waiting on their food as well.
I need to visit again, this place was great

This is my second visit, the last visit was about 4 months ago. The food is really pretty good, but the service seems to have suffered. It is rare to walk into an EMPTY BBQ place on a weekday at 6pm when it is on a busy main road, but we did. Now that my meal is done there are 3 groups besides my wife and I but no one has picked up the check in 10 minute and there is one very persistent fly in early November. The staff is not killing themselves.

Excellent BBQ restaurant. The half rack of ribs was exceptionally meaty with a great flavor. The sides of baked beans and potato salad were probably the the best I have eaten in 50+ years. I’ve tried hundreds of BBQ places but Southern Smoke is the best of all. Usually the BBQ is good, but the sides are weak or vice-versa. Not at Southern Smoke, the entire meal was excellent and left me wanting more. A return trip is already in the planning stage.

I ordered the half-back baby ribs, sides of cole slaw and potato salad. The ribs were cooked very well, a good portion. The sauce was smokey sweet. The price was reasonable. I would recommend this place. Definitely worth it!

I just ate the best barbecue I’ve ever had. I think my BBQ is pretty good. But this Barbeque is as good as it gets. Truly smoked really good. Amazing their homemade collard greens has meat in it. The argument with greens is greens ain’t good unless it has meat in it. I’ve never had greens at a restaurant that had meat until now. Best damn greens I’ve ever had. I had a brisket sandwich mac and cheese and collard greens. I walked out of the joint with a rack of baby backs and a pound of pulled pork. Oh yeah everything is homemade. Everything is from scratch. They got two kinds of barbecue sauce. You can’t buy this sauce at the store. I’ve been on a diet I lost 55 pounds. This place is an excuse to hit the gym even harder. I’ve been praying Lord I know you heard me.

Most BBQ places, the meat is good, but the sides suck. This is the opposite. The beans are very good, fried okra is a rare treat, ribs were overcooked and dry. When I asked for “one slice of brisket, just to have a taste,” I was told “he couldn’t do it.” When I said I wasn’t expecting a freebie, he still couldn’t. So much for friendliness. Won’t be back.

Their ribs are amazing as is their BBQ sauce. Smoked sausage is tasty but a slightly strange texture. The baked beans are a pretty good side. Didn’t care for the pulled pork, not enough smoke or flavor. Brisket was Ok. I’d just stick with the ribs. Beer selection is poor. Bud, Miller, Coors, Corona variety. Lots of potential if they can make the other meat stand up with the ribs.
