Favorite sushi place by far! Friends and I go here every couple weeks. Everyone we introduce to MJ loves it just as much.
Fish is always top quality (especially recommend the salmon and otoro! Uni is delish too), rolls are excellent (caterpillar and CB roll are great), the chicken karage is PERFECT, the service is super friendly and helpful (you rock, Mindy!), and you get a free drink+ice cream?! MJ simply could not be any better. Keep it up!

Last time i got food from this place was via a pickup order I submitted through their website. Please beware with this restaurant, they automatically select a 15% for a pickup order… I had a $100 and did not notice ( stoner moment ) that it ended up charging me $120 .. I went back and that’s when I noticed the tip. Get this , I went back to test, and saw the 15% selected, however, it was pretty much a $20
To top it all, i get home and I notice that they didn’t even put chopsticks, napkins ,utensils or soy sauce .
The food was ok, i liked my roll but my friends were indifferent about theirs.

Located in the Blackhawk shopping center, next to the Safeway. This is an outstanding late night Japanese restaurant, specializing in high quality sushi rolls. I highly recommend their Deluxe hand roll: Uni, otoro, shiso leaf, ikura. They also feature House special rolls, and we tried their CB roll: salmon avocado, and fresh maguro tuna! Loved their high quality seafood and warm sushi rice. Sushi nigiri portions were large, generous cuts. I loved their otoro, hamachi, and ama ebi. Extremely fresh and delicious!

Sushi rolls were all great and fresh. We got all special rolls. We liked them all.
I just wish they used a real crab meat though.

Next to Blackhawk Plaza and in the Tassajara Crossing Shopping mall, this restaurant location is a 5 Star establishment!

Excellent presentation, fabulous combination of flavors, basically hit the spot !

I am surprised about the high score in google. It’s more like a fast food version of sushi. The sushi was Soggy and to salt. Price is not so expensive

A great little sushi spot near home. Food was fresh and served quickly. Atmosphere is very comfortable and home like feeling. Folks are friendly and place is usually open till 11:30 PM.

Update 6/04/2023 came in for a take out order. Order for sushi rolls and I was very pleased with the size and quality.
Just open 6/28/2022 in Danville. Just off Camino Tassajara near Safeway. Heard great things and can’t wait a sushi place open near Blackhawk and open 4:30 pm to 12:00 am midnight

It was late and me and my lady were craving sushi. MJ sushi was open till 12 so we drove on over. I was not expecting to be blown away but boy was I. All the fish was so fresh and the service is out of this world. Mendy(i think that’s how it’s spelled) took care of us like she was a grandma taking care of her grandkids. I think i found my new favorite sushi spot in the Bay Area! Pardon the terrible photos we scarfed down everything but i promise the presentation was lovely .
