(Photos won’t do it justice, I’d already started eating by the time I thought to take a pic)
We got an assortment of tacos – carne asada, chorizo, cecina, and pollo asada. All of them were excellent.
The carne asada is tender and flavorful, and loaded with filling.
The corn tortillas are so fresh and they are the perfect blend of soft and also sturdy enough to hold up the delicious fillings. They were an absolute highlight, fresh corn tortillas are hard to find!
We also had an excellent tamale that was seasoned perfectly.
Oh! And the homemade hot sauce – exceptional flavor and great heat. chefs kiss!
I have to say – I’ve had a lot of tacos in my life in these were some of the best I’ve had in Maine.
Delightful place, can’t wait to come back!

Maine’s most authentic taste of Central America —I say this with 100% confidence… though we are gringos, so take that as you will.
The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a wave of rich, complex aromas the kind that wrap around you like a hug from someone who knows how to cook. Every dish feels like it was made with love and a deep understanding of flavor.
The daily special was a slow-braised goat taco that melted apart like butter, paired with a Chicken Tinga quesadilla that was, frankly, impossible to share. Both came with warm tortilla chips, a bright salsa verde, and a creamy chipotle style sauce that packed just the right amount of heat.
The staff were wonderful genuinely kind and smiling, especially with our young boys, who devoured their kid’s quesadilla with the joy only melted cheese can bring.
And then there were the desserts. Oh, the desserts. From the namesake tres leches cake to piping hot churros (which disappeared faster than I’d like to admit), every bite reminded us why bakeries like this matter. Washed down with rare to find Mexican drinks, it was pure happiness in edible form.
Tres Leches Cake’s Flor isn’t just a restaurant it’s a reminder of how food bridges cultures. It celebrates Maine’s small but mighty diversity with flavor, heart, and hospitality.
A true hidden gem I’ll be recommending to anyone with taste buds.
