This restaurant is a gem – the food is absolutely delicious and the service was quick and very friendly.

(Photos won’t do it justice, I’d already started eating by the time I thought to take a pic)

We got an assortment of tacos – carne asada, chorizo, cecina, and pollo asada. All of them were excellent.
The carne asada is tender and flavorful, and loaded with filling.

The corn tortillas are so fresh and they are the perfect blend of soft and also sturdy enough to hold up the delicious fillings. They were an absolute highlight, fresh corn tortillas are hard to find!

We also had an excellent tamale that was seasoned perfectly.

Oh! And the homemade hot sauce – exceptional flavor and great heat. chefs kiss!

I have to say – I’ve had a lot of tacos in my life in these were some of the best I’ve had in Maine.

Delightful place, can’t wait to come back!

Tres Leches has a spacious clean and welcoming atmosphere. There are seats for 16 – 6 tables for dining in. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. We had the Plato de Pollo and the Pozole. A cup of Horchata that was thankfully not over-sweetened and we are leaving with a concha !

Tres Leches – Nos allegro tenerle como vecinos!

My son and his friends love the food here. So one day, my wife and I tried it out and were very impressed with everything including their desserts! We asked about them making us a birthday cake for our youngest son, and they went above and beyond. The pictures does not do it justice. It looked a lot better than my Photos skills. I promise. A lot of people showed up at the party and loved the cake. It was very delicious and a hit. I highly recommend Tres leches cake’s flor.

Best Mexican food in Maine. My friend and I ordered picaditas with carnitas, a quesadilla with tinga (chicken), a green chile with chicken, and horchatas. For dessert we tried the pink concha, flan, and fresas con crema. All of the food was delicious, fresh, and authentic. The owner and her husband were also very sweet. I am definitely coming back soon. I live in Brunswick, but the trip to South Portland is worth it for these flavors.

Maine’s most authentic taste of Central America —I say this with 100% confidence… though we are gringos, so take that as you will.

The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a wave of rich, complex aromas the kind that wrap around you like a hug from someone who knows how to cook. Every dish feels like it was made with love and a deep understanding of flavor.

The daily special was a slow-braised goat taco that melted apart like butter, paired with a Chicken Tinga quesadilla that was, frankly, impossible to share. Both came with warm tortilla chips, a bright salsa verde, and a creamy chipotle style sauce that packed just the right amount of heat.

The staff were wonderful genuinely kind and smiling, especially with our young boys, who devoured their kid’s quesadilla with the joy only melted cheese can bring.

And then there were the desserts. Oh, the desserts. From the namesake tres leches cake to piping hot churros (which disappeared faster than I’d like to admit), every bite reminded us why bakeries like this matter. Washed down with rare to find Mexican drinks, it was pure happiness in edible form.

Tres Leches Cake’s Flor isn’t just a restaurant it’s a reminder of how food bridges cultures. It celebrates Maine’s small but mighty diversity with flavor, heart, and hospitality.

A true hidden gem I’ll be recommending to anyone with taste buds.

Absolutely a top-20 restaurant in the Greater Portland area. The pozole was outstanding on a cold early spring day. Do not hesitate. Traditional flavors and friendly welcoming service. Tortas and tamales locked-in the 5 stars. Can’t wait to come back.

This place is a gem! Having lived on both coasts, this is the best Mexican food I’ve found in the states. My husband is from Mexico and agrees. The food is so flavorful and fresh. We went one day and had to go back the next! We tried the chorizo huarache, the chicken Milanese semita, the chicken tinga quesadilla, and carnitas and chicken tacos and all of it was amazing. Honestly the semita may have been the best sandwich I’ve had in my life. And of course the desserts are incredible – we tried the tres leches cake with peach, flan, and gelatina mozaico. We can’t wait to go back again and again!

Not only is this an incredible restaurant, but Flor baked our wedding cake! It was absolutely gorgeous, and all the guests were saying it was the most delicious wedding cake they’d ever had. I’m biased, but I agree Definitely reach out for your special event cake needs!

Best Tacos in Maine! I ordered a carne adada taco and a suadero taco. The tacos came out fast and were piping hot. They make their own corn tortillas from scratch, and you can taste the quality of the masa. The carne asada was very tender and flavorful. I typically prefer my carne asada chopped finer, but with how tender the meat was, it worked in their favor. 8.9/10 The suadero was almost perfect it was not overly fatty but still melted in your mouth. It just needed a touch of spice and salt. 9.4/10 The Jamaica was perfect, just the right amount of sugar. I couldn’t recommend the tacos more here they are as good and authentic as anything on the West Coast. I understand they are a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for here. I look forward to coming back and trying the desserts!
