Social Profile:
Originally from Manabí, the Sanchez family found their home in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Their journey eventually led them to the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, where they have been sharing their cultural heritage with you. Much like Manabí, Guayaquil is a coastal city, which is why a majority of the dishes you’ll find here are seafood-inspired. This is why Genesis stands out as one of the select Ecuadorian restaurants in New York City that specializes in seafood. We invite you to savor our diverse seafood offerings, from sopa de mariscos to arroz marinero. And, if you’re lucky, you might get to try our exquisite sopa de viche, a traditional delicacy from the Manabí region.
Family-style platters of Ecuadorian fare whipped up in a down-to-earth outpost with simple seating.

The conch ceviche (ceviche de concha) is amazing. The soup looks black but it tastes so good as a cold soup. People are super warm hearted. They keep on explaining “ crudo crudo” …

Parking is really difficult around this area. We found parking that was available till 4pm. After that time, it becomes a No Standing zone. The restaurant itself is decent and clean. I wouldn’t consider it a romantic spot. I tried the ceviche from fish. I needed to add more lemon to bring it up to par. It was served with rice. I ordered an empanada, which was a bit greasy. The cheese inside was more liquid than melted cheese.

Good food. Will definitely be going back. Finding parking is the only issue. But u can park at a muni meter. I think it was 4 dollars for 2 hours. Not bad at all

Authentic Ecuadorian Cuisine. Majority of the customers are locals. I recommend the stews and Hayacas(sweet chicken tamales). The wait staff was incredibly charming.

I like this restaurant. I always come here to order chofan. Only reason I gave it a 3 star because they have a grade b and they have no delivery. You can call for them to make it before you go. The food is delicious I always come for the chofan they do it very good and it has great flavor. Only thing I don’t like is that they put lots of fat that you have to throw most of the meat out because is mostly fat. They have a wheelchair accessible entrance. The restaurant is an medium size restaurant. The prices are a little expensive but is worth it. I would like them to fix there grade. The staff are welcoming and do there job good. I always come here.

Best Ecuadorian restaurant in the city in my opinion (and by city I mean all 5 boroughs.) Nice family owned restaurant. You will see the wonder cleaning tables and getting things for his customers. The portions are huge. Great menu selection. They do run out of certain dishes fast so be mindful of that. Their prices recently went up but I think it’s still worth it. Super happy they made it through Covid times.
