If it’s your first omakase experience then you’ll like it. If you’ve had more expensive omakase before, then this one doesn’t really have the same experience factor. The quality of the fish was good but it was fast(less than 1h) and felt rushed. The sushi chef didn’t really explain anything other than state the obvious name of the fish. But it’s good for the price.

My first omakase experience couldn’t have been at a better restaurant. This place offers 13 courses for $78 with ice cream dessert. Each piece was carefully cultivated for a homogenous flavor profile. The uni was a bit too mushy for my liking, but I am not the biggest fan of uni to begin with. The ikura was so fresh, no fishiness whatsoever. They also torched most of the fish including the salmon, which I feel I would have enjoyed better raw. I did feel like I was being rushed to eat quick even though we were given 90 minutes for the omakase experience. We were done with all courses in an hour. We had a 5pm reservation, which worked well for us as the restaurant was fairly empty for this reservation time. Parking is a bit difficult to find, but street parking is free.

I agree mostly with folks here that the service feels rushed. Its advertised as 90 minutes but it actually took around 50 minutes to finish. Mostly because the chef already pre-sliced every piece of fish ahead of time so he just does a quick assembly when you sit down.

Its a pretty casual vibe and its a good place to catch up and chat since the chef doesn’t actually explain much about each dish. He places it down and just names the fish. I did notice that they basically torched/seared like 75% of the dishes…kind of much I think?

The main thing that sort of irked me was that my partner and I sat down first and maybe 4 dishes in a second group of two sit down next to us. From there on out the chef served them first. But we were here first? I don’t know…maybe thats being nit picky hahaha.

Went on a Friday night with a reservation and was quick to be seated, however, food came out really slow. We ordered from the a la carte menu and got 3 sets, hand roll set and 2 u-maki. My hand rolls started coming out at the 20 minute mark but my husband waited 45 minutes to get the first piece of his u-maki set. Overall, we were there for nearly 1.5 hours for 9 hand rolls!

Other than service, food is amazing there. Would not go back though as the wait was just too long.

Absolutely fantastic! The omakase was so delicious, every piece of sushi was exquisite. We made reservations for 5pm on a Friday, but there were some seats available for walk ins. Reservations do require a hefty deposit, but the deposit is refunded. Happy Hour starts at 5pm. A carafe of sake goes for $20. We also got the extra roll of wagyu after the omakase, which I would highly recommend (I got the wagyu with the foie gras, uni and truffle) . My favorite sushi was the Japanese toast with the ground tuna, salmon roe, uni, and shaved truffle. Parking is a bit tough. The neighborhood is very nice (Fishtown), with a little park in front. Definitely give it a try!

Came with all intentions of trying handrolls for the first time! and I was not disappointed.

This was my first “raw” seafood experience and I’m so happy I came to Yuhiro for that experience. The food was so intricately crafted that it all worked SO well with each other. The hot tea was delicious and so were the rolls!

Attended the tuna cutting on February 2, 2025 and it was a fantastic experience. Omakase to the next level. I was super impressed by the effort Chef and his team put into breaking down the 350lb tuna from Spain. I was also thrilled with the opportunity to cut my first tuna. Everything was so fresh. I’d definitely do this again!

The restaurant has a sleek and comfortable design and offers a sushi experience unlike most others in the city. The sushi comes with instructions, and at first I thought I didn’t need them— but it turned out to have some great tips for different kind of sushi rolls. The staff was also knowledgeable and helpful.

Especially now that Fishtown Izakaya has lost its liquor license, this is now my go to spot for sushi and sake.

Tip— go on Sunday for 20% off almost the whole menu. Try it, you won’t regret it.
