You cant give one star without telling the story of your experience. I was hoping this would be a hidden treasure……so not the case. The best onion rings ever were fried onions with very little breading….not at all like pictures shown on site.

Found this place by accident… we tried to eat at a different diner but it happened to be closed and we found Sagebrush Saloon. So glad we did… the food was good and the staff was super friendly. We had the onion petals and after eating one basket decided we needed more, lol… my Reuben sandwich was yummy and the hand cut fries were perfect.
I’d definitely go back if I’m ever out that way again. The whole town of Vale was amazing to walk thru and see all the history. A definite must see if you’re looking for a quaint, historic town to explore.

Since the Sagebrush is under new ownership, the food is pretty good, but service is always super duper slow. I’ve been in here 3 or 4 times since the new owners opened up, and they’re real friendly folks. Their vision is to provide a little higher quality dining experience out here where we don’t really have much outside of a roadside burger joint.
They’re offering steaks, breaded prawns, specials a lot of the time, nice salads, hand dipped onion rings, they make a decent burger, and everything I’ve had there has been good. I wish they’d bring back the croissant club they had on their opening menu, that was delicious!
I do recommend them, but be prepared to wait a while. Dinner service takes about an hour.

Stopped in for dinner with family and was the worst restaurant experience I have ever come across. They turned the grill off early and only had fried foods which was 4 items on the whole menu. Ordered drinks and had a dead fly in one of them, ordered fried steak fingers and after waiting 30 min, they told us they only had enough for one order, got fries when I ordered tots, and the chicken strips we ordered were so tough. Service was horrible and the place was so dirty. Hard to believe this place is still in business. Never going back there again. Not a good look in a small town.

Was a little confused about seating upon entering as no hostess was around, so we awkwardly stood by the door waiting for instructions. A nice lady came and told us to pick a seat. The menu is basically steak and sandwiches. It’s kind more of a diner feel than a restaurant. It’s very casual.
Hubby ordered the special if the day, prime rib open faced sandwich, with the house fries. He enjoyed it. I had the pulled pork sandwich, with house fries. The pulled pork was good however the toasted bun was dry and a but stale. I ate the pork but left most of the bun. The coleslaw was rather flavorless IMO. It could have used a bit more mayo and some salt. The fries were fabulous! Fried to perfection and the perfect color.
Access to the restrooms was little confusing. I could see the restroom access through the bar, but if my kids were with me that wouldn’t be the correct way to enter. Turns out there’s two entrances to the bathroom, but access through the family dining area isn’t labeled. I figured it out, but I think better signage would be advisable as not everyone wants to ask the wait staff how to find the restroom when needed.
Overall the food was good. I found the fries to be the best! Pricing was good. Nice restaurant for a small town.

Was excited to try this restaurant! But can say we were not impressed. As soon as we walked through the door we felt very unwelcomed. Right off the bat the waitress was snarky.. but we decided to give it a chance. The restaurant was not busy. Their was 1 other table in dinning area the bar area was moderately busy but not overwhelming by any means. We sat for about 5 to 10 mintues before even being somewhat greeted by the waitress. We then placed our drink order and waited for about 10 more mintues. We decided to go ahead and leave at that point since it looked like the bar was the waitresses main concern. We were gone about 30 minutes before I realized I left my phone. We went back and I grabbed it but had noticed the only other table in the dinning area was still without food and looked very upset. And definitely didn’t seem very kid friendly by any means.

Stop to get something to eat. Great frendly atmosphere. Everyone talked and joked with us. Had our dinner paid for by a gentleman named Ed. He didn’t want us to leave offered to find us a place to stay. How many little towns can you just drive thru and meet such caring people.

Normally have no complaints but when I invite my family to come have lunch on my one hour lunch break- only to wait 40 minutes to not even get water or our order taken. They were short staffed yet continued to take to go orders and seat people in the restaurant. Guess you have to call in a to go order to get it in a reasonable time ♀️
