I read the reviews before visiting. So I kinda expected a wait. But figured it may have been an isolated issue. We were promptly seated, and the waitress was very nice. We put our orders In and our dink came right away. However our food took almost an hour. I was so close to leaving. I had noticed a guy at the bar picking up a large order. So figured they were swamped in the kitchen. Shortly the waitress came over and apologized for the delay. I understood that she had no control of the kitchen. So I believe they need to get their systems in place to fully succeed. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. I hope they learn and grow. But it may be a while till I return.

You can’t find a better place to take the family. Very family friendly and in fact the Owner Dan makes you feel like you’re a part of his. The food is superb. When your plates are brought to the table it’s most surprising due to the pure excellence that it is. You must try.

I was extremely pleased with the service and quality of food. Not only was there a wide variety of entrees, there were many choices of beverages at the bar. The restrooms were clean and the hostess easily accommodated our large family. Many TV’s were visible to view our favorite games. I was very pleased and will definitely return to Villaggio Urbandale.

I was here for a birthday party, and service took over an hour to get salad and drinks, and another 30 to get entrees. The server herself was inattentive, but did seem overwhelmed. The gentleman introduced as Dan, the owner, didn’t support his server at all. When we issued a complaint, he said he would take care of it, and more time passed. We eventually saw him sitting down at another table with a couple of patrons who had been there a while. Our food was average. If it had been timely and our service better, it would have been a good, solid meal. However, Dan’s fix was to merely offer us appetizers next time we go in – I gave my card away because there is no way I am going back with an owner that doesn’t care to support overwhelmed staff in front or back of house.

I have to challenge any of these positive reviews of this establishment. I rarely leave reviews but I feel incredibly compelled due to one of the most awful experiences of my recent memory – thanks Villagio!

The restaurant was half full, maybe. There were two servers working and they looked overwhelmed. Nobody took our drink orders until after the first 10mins, but hey we eventually got our water.

We placed our orders and waited nearly a hour. Not much to pass the time but our empty stomachs and whining children. Didn’t receive much service or updates on our order in that hour long wait. And let me reiterate that this restaurant was half full. The food was average at best, my pasta noodles were overcooked, and they served my daughter frozen corn dogs.
First – why did it take a hour? I don’t understand and find any rationale inexcusable.
Second – you take a hour and serve my daughter cold/frozen corn dogs?
Third – the food did not come out at the same time. Which makes this all the more bizarre.

It was vividly clear that this restaurant has zero front of house or back of house experience. There is no order or management. The service and experience was one of the things I want to forget. It was so bad I can only laugh about it now. This god awful experience provides a colored anecdote I can tell among my friends and turn into a fun conversation about worst restaurant experiences.

If you’re reading this, please stay away and visit somewhere else. I had a $50 gift card that I applied towards our bill and refused to take any change back and couldn’t do anything but laugh at the request. I do not intend to visit this establishment ever again. Your hard earned money deserves to be used where you’ll enjoy a nice evening, not having your blood boil.

Horrible experience. It was incredibly slow, they had to redo our pizza once and then they gave us someone else’s pizza. I hope they enjoyed my pizza because I did not get my vegetarian pizza so no pizza for me. They seemed overwhelmed but they weren’t that busy. Never again.

Food was good. Service was very slow. There were only 1 table of 2 plus my table of 4 and 3 at the bar drinking. We were there 2 hours.
We were there a week earlier and it was the same way but not as bad. Unacceptable.

Visited on a Friday evening with a party of 9 and the restaurant was 30% full. They ran out of one of the items on our order and we didn’t find out until waiting for 45 minutes. None of the other items we ordered had even been started yet. In a rush to get things to us quickly we received some fried items still frozen in the middle and other items looked like they turned up the heat to get it out faster as it was slightly charred and not cooked evenly. This was after the manager got involved.

For the price the food items we finally received were not bad but the service was terrible and the restaurant manager was not effective in making things better. At a 30% full capacity no excuse.

Would not go back even for free.
