I wish I could rate this place much higher. The atmosphere was incredible, the staff were very kind, the bartenders made some outstanding drinks, and the food was immaculate. We stayed on the top floor and admired the layout/ambience. Downstairs was like a dungeon with a bar! We drove a distance to go here, and it was worth every penny. We will definitely come here again!!

Got the steaks with 2 sides x3 and a chicken bacon ranch sandwich, chicken fingers mash potatoes, whiskey sour, jack on the rocks cranberry juice, sprite and water plus more and played a whole bunch of pool on a nice free pool tables downstairs. Very awesome service, great music selections and beautiful atmosphere. Prices are higher but overall worth it

We drove up from Topeka and it’s worth the trip! Amazing and delicious food with a great atmosphere! The downstairs was really cool. We got the fried prickles, Jokers Cut Steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables and we also got the Italian wedding soup! Also got an old fashioned! It was all amazing! Sebastian was our server and he was great!!!

2/27/26 Really great first experience! Onion rings, fries, and drinks are great. What a beautiful place. Friendly staff. Great musical act. Our server Matt was great! We can’t wait to go back and try more things. What a great town. We want to go do more exploring.

Job well done in all categories. Food was fantastic. Had the veggies, taters, and steak. Super tasty, wouldn’t change a thing. Not over complicated and not too simple. Service was superior and wait staff are incredibly welcoming. Atmosphere is obviously killer. Pilgrims keep branches out of the regular restaurant theme that I’ve been waiting for my whole life. Even if you don’t think a medieval theme is your jam – give something different a try. It’s worth it.

The food was absolutely outstanding. They told me they cook in tallow and I was pleasantly surprised as you really don’t find that anywhere anymore. My steak was absolutely phenomenal. Their homemade bread I couldn’t get enough of. It’s hearty but the butter gives it the perfect amount of sweetness. The chefs are absolutely dedicated to their craft. The mashed potatoes were some of the best I’ve had in a restaurant. This beats any chain restaurant any day. They have music pretty frequently and had some fiddlers that were just wonderful. Our server was newer but we would have had no idea unless they said something. They have chess and pool tables and the environment looks straight out of a movie. You wouldn’t expect this in such a small town but I hope this place stays open for a very long time. We will be coming back for date nights for a long time to come.

Took my mom here for Veterans day. Had a steak and she had the chicken noodle soup. Both were amazing. Expect to be welcomed by a warm staff and a modern, yet period atmosphere. Pricing was in the $15-$25 per plate range. Will definitely be coming back for live music on the weekends!

Can’t say enough good things about this place. They knocked it out of the park on food, service, and atmosphere. The best part was the value proposition though. Generous portions of amazing food for superbly reasonable prices. We happened to go on a night when they had live music and the band they had playing (East of Abilene) was fantastic.

Will definitely be back frequently and can’t recommend this place enough.

May 2025: So, we decided to drive a little away from home to Pilgrims Keep in St Mary’s. The wife called them to make sure we did not need reservations on a Friday evening. We were pleasantly surprised, when the attendant called back, after remembering we mentioned driving, that the Friday menu is different than other days. We witnessed this at the restaurant when another family walked in, and promptly walked out after learning about the all fish menu. We were actually looking forward to fish hence the 1hr drive. The attendant was very cordial and friendly. We ordered the Whiskey Daisy and Dark and Stormy for drinks. Also the Fish n chips (breaded cod) & (pan fried catfish) for our entrees, and the Apple Crisp for dessert. Everything was flavorful and had very adequate portions. The live music made the time fly by. Part of the entertainment is looking at the decorations and general “architecture” of the restaurant. The wife used the word “medieval” to describe it. Movies are our only point of reference, but it did have an “ancient” look to it. Will definitely mark Pilgrims Keep as a restaurant to visit multiple times.

November 2025 update: family is visiting so of course we need to give them a tour of our favorite restaurants in the area. Ended up at Pilgrim’s Keep just before the Christmas Parade. For drinks, we ordered the Boulevardier and a Yuengling Lager. For entrees we ordered a Joker’s Cut steak with onion rings and vegetables, and another Joker’s Cut steak, with mashed potatoes and onion rings. I have not had steaks this delicious in a while. The steaks were cooked to perfection with an absolute great sear for the crust. And don’t forget to mention the great service and the live music. Great evening overall.

The service was phenomenal, the Indian gentleman, Garshone, at the bar said he was new here but gave me some of the best service I have ever had. Phil was also very helpful.
The chef is a downright magician, food was out of this world. Steak is Michelin quality.
The whole medieval/ Renaissance atmosphere is very period accurate, complete with a history lesson from the owner or manager if you get lucky!
Will definitely be coming back here for more incredible food and drinks, the Negroni is my new favorite. Bartender recommended it shaken, and it was magnificent!
