The Emberwood is outstanding in terms of food and atmosphere. It’s hard to come by, being tucked into the St Francis Hotel, but it is well worth the exploration.
The sharing steak was a gift from the heavens. Perfectly seasoned and marbled. The meat just melted in your mouth. The accompanying fries and sauces were excellent.
The Croquettes I had for starters were also extremely flavourful.
The custard tart was quite nice, but at that point I had eaten so much I thought I was going to burst!
Prior to our meal we had a drink at the bar. The cocktail options are extensive, along with the wine list.
My one complaint was that the service was a bit haphazard, I noticed that the wait staff were jumping from table to table instead of looking after a particular section. This left our requests for more drink to go dangerously unanswered long periods of time. I imagine that this only occurs on busy Saturday nights and the rest of the time it’s fine.
Overall if your in Bath and looking for a great formal dining experience. This is the place.

My wife and I visited whilst in Bath for a few days and had a fantastic experience at Emberwood.
The food was excellent, wine list was extensive (and exceptional value) the staff were super friendly, attentive and knowledgeable.
The atmosphere and restaurant itself was beautiful and attention to detail was excellent too.
Overall a fantastic experience and amazing value. We’ve eaten in some incredible high end and Michelin starred restaurants and Emberwood definitely hit the mark. A must visit in Bath!

The restaurant and decor looked great.
To celebrate my wife’s birthday we booked in having seen some Instagram promotions, and we used to love it when this was Brasserie Blanc.
Though the restaurant had no shortage of staff, it took us to prompt them to take our order, to chase up the drinks and to clear our plates. Despite some senior looking staff on the floor I was not really sure who was in command. Tables were left uncleared despite the restaurant being quiet.
The food was OK – most of the dishes were very rich and doused in a lot of oil or butter. The Scallops in particular were too buttery.
The ambience was fine and I am sure it will buzz on a Saturday night but I am not convinced the team could handle things when it gets busy.
On our booking we were asked if it was a special occasion, which it was. For someone to drop off a small token (maybe some petit fours in a box?) as we we were putting our coats on just reinforced the feeling they weren’t on the ball.
At £198 for dinner this wasn’t a cheap option.

I ate here whilst visiting Bath for a few days. The food was really excellent. The steak as good as the best places in London, including the revered Ibai. Their croquettes and young house pickles are both superb. The pie was really proper, if a little too rich. Decent wine list too and the Martini Trolley is a great idea. The service isn’t perfect and it’s not a cheap day out, but overall a very good option if you’re in Bath.

We love Emberwood, it’s so good we keep going back for Sunday roast, which is by far the best in Bath – sirloin is pink and tender, pork is delicious, literally melts in your mouth, and portions are generous too including lots of vegetables and fresh and tasty Yorkshire pudding. Service is top notch, professional and friendly, we always feel very welcome, the Team even remember our favourite table every time.

Booked Emberwood in Bath to celebrate my friend’s big age and we were taken care by Saffi and Gabbi. The team personally signed my friend’s birthday card which was such a personal touch. We were able to bring in a cake at a fee and they helped us keep it a surprise for my friend. The food and the service was amazing, highly recommend the waygu steak or the slow lamb (picture). Thank you to the team for accommodating us (big group) and looking forward to visiting again

The food in Emberwood is excellent, we started with oysters, mushrooms and beef tartare which were all amazing, the only slight issue is the Tartare is very mustardy but still delicious. The evening was more than the food though, the atmosphere in the restaurant is excellent with perfect lighting, music and decor, the ambience is perfect. The wines were also excellent with a good choice of fine wines. We started the evening with cocktails at the bar which were both strong and full of flavour. To top it off the staff weee incredibly helpful, very friendly and couldn’t have been more welcoming.
I’ll be visiting again soon.

We visited before the theatre for a meal and some wine, and it didn’t disappoint. From the moment we walked in, the staff were warm, attentive, and efficient. We chose seats at the grill, which gave us a great view of the action and the impressive dishes being prepared. Our meal, scallops, sirloin, and the red mullet stew, was perfectly executed and absolutely delicious, complemented beautifully by a bottle of Primitivo. We’d highly recommend this spot to anyone in Bath looking for something a little more refined, with top-quality food and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

My wife and I chose Emberwood to celebrate my daughter’s birthday for Sunday lunch . The restaurant environment is wonderful and found the service attentive professional and confident. Marinated olives were delicious and the warm grilled bread with sea salt butter a delicious start to our meal and I thought this bodes well for what’s to come . We chose a selection of roasts . Beef sirloin was pink and perfectly cooked but poorly butchered with a 15mm cap of unpleasant fat . Belly of pork was dry and whilst the perfect cap of crackling was super crisp but also super salty so was the rest of the meat and impossible to cut . Corn fed chicken was succulent but pale and lacked roast highlights or roastsflavour. Vegetable platter with Yorkshires and gravy was a delight and a wonderful way to serve family style . We loved and enjoyed the desert trolley. Lemon meringue profiterole was the highlight of our meal ( but expensive for what it was one piece placed on a plate with no sauce or garnished . We did not leave delighted by our meal but enjoyed the warm service lovely atmosphere and environment, but would not feel confident to return with this quality of food .
