I had not heard much about this restaurant, so figured we should check it out since we are new to the area. We started with soup and chili. My wife got the cream of crab and it was very good…needed a touch more Old Bay for our tastes, but that’s a preference and our server provided us with a container so we could add some. I got their chili which is made with brisket and pork. I thought it was pretty good, but a bit sweet for my taste and lacking any kind of heat (spicy heat, not temperature). I could see how some people would like it, though, just wasn’t my thing.
My wife got sliders and fries and she enjoyed them. I got the meat platter with ribs, brisket, pork, and chicken. It was all cooked very well and the portions were substantial. The 1/3 of a rack that I received was what you usually get for a 1/2 rack at other places, or maybe even a bit more than that.
Our server was very nice, attentive, and knowledgeable.
We definitely plan on going back.

Food is decent. Not spectacular, but fairly good. We have given it several chances over the years, but something always disappoints us. In the past, it was a $1 surcharge for a slice of cheese or needing to ask for sugar packets. While both have since been fixed, there are still issues that keep us from returning or recommending it.
Most recently, we were told there were no pit meats. When we asked the owner, we were told they sold it all to large catering orders. While she “apologized”, she clearly stated that it was standard practice and had no desire to keep meat in reserve for the restaurant if it could be sold to catering meaning they may or may not have a particular item on their menu when you visit.
In addition, our fries were served cold. The waitress said it was probably because the heaters in the window were broken. While she did fix the issue, we were pretty much done our meals before receiving our fries.

The ambience was good, a cozy sports bar. Our pizza was fantastic. The brisket sandwich and green beans were OK, not great. Out of 7 or 8 beee taps, 5 were low end domestics, a nicer beer selection. Would have been a plus.

Best brisket hands down! Smoked overnight and done right with a great selection of sauces done in-house.
Also the best wings!! Also smoked and done right. Great sauces for the wings too.
There are specials throughout the week ,be sure and check them out.
Wait staff and bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable about the food choices, and very attentive.

Ate there for lunch today, 10 AUG 14. 10 of us. No complaints. Service was good and friendly. My friend Sam, liked the brisket, I had the chicken salad wrap, it had a great flavor of smoked chicken. Since we were on motorcycles none of had a drink.
We will go back if we are passing through.

Let me start by saying the first 7-8 visits to the Pit were great. My wife and I would visit every 2-3 weeks. It all started going down hill from there. We were in the back room several weeks ago with other patrons on a Friday night when the Pit allowed a party of about 30 to take over the back room. It was so loud we couldn’t even talk. We had to scream for our waitress to hear us. We ate so fast just to get out of there. It was our first bad experience there. I called management the next day. Management could care less. With that said we took some time off from our visits to the Pit. On Friday 11/6/15 my wife and I decided to give the Pit another shot. After all, the first several visits were great and it has been years since anything good has been in Jarrettsville at this spot. My wife and I ordered brisket platters. Half way through the brisket I bit on some bone. I might have damaged a tooth, not sure at this point. I pointed this out to the waitress ( showed her the bone ) , she joked about how she worked for a dentist. The waitress stated that she mentioned to management. Know one followed up with us. Once again I guess management could care less. My wife and I really thought the Pit was going to be a winner. Poor customer service from management looks like will due the Pit in. I don’t believe we will be back. Sad.

I have given this bar many chances. I have been let down everytime. The food is sub par at best. If you are not a friend of the family you will not get served. Tonight was the last time i will attempt to spend my money there. I sat at a hi top table in the bar for 20 minutes with no service. It was trivia night and there were 15 customers at best in the restaurant. I stand up to leave and walk to the door. Hostess asked how my dining was. I said very well and went on my way. My 3 sons was much better. Hopefully there will be a new venue in this location soon.

Best place in Jarrettsville to grab a bite. Everybody is friendly and I always enjoy meeting family there for lunch. The ribs and brisket are the way to go and they have a great salad so you don’t feel guilty about only eating meat.

I try to get to the Pit at least once a month, food is great. My favorite is the pulled pork and there Cease Salad dressing is excellent! If you like potato salad, give it a shot I’m picky and it’s just the way I like it! If you have an appetite bring a friend and try their Tour of the South! You probably won’t finish it.
