TLDR: This unique “off the beaten path” family-owned restaurant offered me a soulful meal, feeling of home, and kind conversation as a lone traveler searching for a place to rest my mind on a break from the road.
When I walked through the door, I was greeted with a warm, “Come on in the house! We’re glad you’re here.” The lovely staff told me about Lucy and Linda, the two prominent family women who inspired the business. Every dish served is a family recipe, and I can confirm: You can taste the love and generations of concentrated effort in every bite.
I ordered their most popular dish, Honey Old Bay Fried Chicken, with a side of mashed potatoes, green beans, and the best tasting cornbread I’d had in years. The chicken took me right back to my childhood growing up in South Carolina, my dad used to cook just like that.
The environment the owners and staff created is exactly what I needed. I walked in as a hungry traveler missing home, and my belly was as full as my soul by the time I left. That’s what makes this place a must-stop if you’re staying awhile, or just passing through: You won’t regret the time you took to make it here.

This place is so unique. The food is delicious, but you enter on the side of the building.. I had the fish, cabbage, greens, and yams. All was good but the cabbage was not the best. Dessert is weekends only. Service was friendly and food was hot.

The food was delicious, seasoned nicely. The fried chicken was fried delicately and crispy! Great food and service! Go to the side double doors! Better than mom made at home!

I was surprised at the taste, portion and most of all their wings!!! The Chesapeake Bay Seasoning and Honey wings….Wow. their hot wings (my usual and fav) only ascended the happiness of my taste buds. They have wings down to a science. The mozzarella sticks were served with a side of the homemade marinara sauce. I had the cheeseburger and fries. The cheeseburger was a handmade patty, cooked as requested, consumed the entire bun, had fresh lettuce, onion and tomato. I had the onion rings as a side and they are the light, crispy made from scrath rings that feels like a homerun when you find em. The iced tea was on par, to boot. I was more than satisfied with my entree choice. One of my daughters had the Caesar pasta salad with chicken. What a monstrosity of num-num. She took half of it home and she was “starving” when we got there. My other daughter ordered chicken strips and again an ample serving size with fresh hot fries. The Bank is a renovated bank from back in the day with a staff who are friendly, attentive and this place has food that feels like you have a grandma who is a great cook and loves to feed her family every Sunday. The whole town is a flashback in time and so is this restaurant in all the right ways. If you have a day off in the week or looking for a ride out to a rural area on the weekend (check hours and days open, we went on a Friday afternoon) this is a place to visit. This is not a canned came from the restaurant truck kinda place. The Bank is a legit homemade, home-cooked oriented restaurant that is an inspired restaurant venture from two ladies who had not only passion, but cooking skills, recipes that stand up and a deirea to feed people good food.

On March 11. 2023 I chose this restaurant to have a family dinner for my 60th birthday. Everything was lovely the food was delicious, the drinks were good the customer service was excellent and friendly. My family really enjoyed an atmosphere where we could eat and conversation we had our own music play in the background. They were able to accommodate the amount of guests I had attending, also High chairs for the 2 smallest guest. If you enjoy good southern food I recommend The Bank.

I ordered the smothered chicken, mac and cheese, cabbage, cornbread and my boyfriend ordered the honey old bay chicken, cabbage, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Sweet tea, lemonade and chocolate cake for dessert. You will not be disappointed at all. Everything was seasoned to perfection even the drinks were good. It was busy but we did not have to wait long for the food. The waitress was nice, informative, helpful and friendly with good conversation. Typically I don’t leave reviews but we loved it here. Nice Sunday lunch. We will be back with family and friends. Nice to have a good eatery close to home, we live in South Hill so we came an hour and will be back.
