Side note: We also got the shareable sampler platter. Which isn’t pictured but that is where the mozzarella sticks came from. Everything else on the platter came out really well and tasted awesome! We usually don’t get an appetizer but since it just opened and it was our first time at this location we decided to go for it. This meal cost $30-40 per person but I put $20-30 on my review since without it the overall bill would’ve been lower.
Now for the negatives. We were freezing in our hightop and the lights were uncomfortably bright. The kitchen has very poor quality control. It took them 30 minutes to send out mozzarella sticks and half of them were empty (see photos). We got our food after over an hour of waiting. Both of our fries were unseasoned and my partner’s mac and cheese was cold. Apologies for no picture of our meals, I was just so uncomfortable from something that happened when we recieved our order (that I will be elaborating on later) that it slipped my mind to snap a photo. PLEASE NOTE that our server is not to blame at ALL for the poor food. Not only was she helping our table, but she was also working the bar, answering the phone, and managing to-go orders and she still kept our drinks filled. She seemed like she was being overworked and I do not appreciate staff being treated like that. Also, this is more of a personal preference, but there is an excessive number of TVs– wall to wall and 6 above the bar– and yet none of them had subtitles in a loud restaurant such as a bar. Why would I want to watch Family Guy without being able to hear the jokes? Its weird.
The worst part, the part I alluded to earlier: a literal fight had broken out in the restaurant among the staff! Our server got screamed at by another worker (they were our of uniform, so I am not 100% sure if they were staff, but they clearly knew one another). The aggressor had to be dragged out by their hair! Our poor server had to hide in the kitchen in case the aggressive one came back. The situation was quickly handled by the managerial staff, but it definitely killed the mood to hear someone scream slurs while we were trying to remain positive about our poor experience.
Overall, I think this lot is cursed to be a bad restaurant. I do not wish to come back. The parts of the food that were good were not enough to outweigh the bad. I would not be surprised if I learned this is the same owner as the Applebee’s that once sat here. Please fix these issues before you have to close this place with a 7-hour notice to your staff, like last time.
I was genuinely impressed with the quality of the meal and the staff. The food arrived hot, fresh, and exactly as ordered classic pub fare done right. The service was equally strong; our server was attentive, friendly, and kept the drinks refilled without us having to ask.
The Bad: Cleanliness
Unfortunately, the state of the establishment was a major deterrent. The entire place felt filthy. From sticky tables and grime-covered floors to a general lack of upkeep in the common areas, it was hard to fully enjoy the meal while sitting in such an unkempt environment.
Final Verdict
The team in the kitchen and on the floor are doing a great job, but the management needs to prioritize a deep clean. It’s a shame to have the dining experience overshadowed by poor hygiene. I’d love to come back for the wings, but not until the place gets a serious scrub-down.
