This was my first time eating here—and definitely my last.

I came during regular hours, around 1–2 PM. The parking lot was completely full; I had to drive around twice before finally finding a spot.

I really love mala shabu and I have my regular go-to place, so I know exactly what ingredients should be available. I came here only because a friend recommended it and thought it would be good—but it wasn’t.

Several ingredients were already out of stock. When I asked, the staff said they would not restock and that once something was gone, it was gone until the next day. At the sauce bar, even fresh chilies were gone, and again I was told there would be no refill—“out is out, come back tomorrow.” Honestly, it’s ridiculous.

I find it hard to believe and very unfair. I’m a regular customer dining during normal business hours, yet key items were missing. The staff were polite and friendly, but if this is the restaurant’s policy, then this experience is enough for me to say once is more than enough.

I’ll be going back to my usual place that I actually enjoy. I’m writing this review just to let others know—when something isn’t good, it should be said.

Lowkey malatang spot on the corner of Walnut Grove and Valley. Plenty of parking in the shared lot with McDonald’s and Mr Dragon Noodle House.

You get a bowl and tongs, choose your ingredients, and weigh the bowl at the register. You choose the soup base to make your own personal hot pot at $13.99/pound. It’s an extra dollar for different soup base or dry pot.

Food was pretty good. The selection is limited. The original bone soup is creamy/whitish and tasty. They have ingredients like lotus root, cabbage, tripe, fish balls, and spinach. There were only two choices of meats: lamb or beef. There is a self-serve sauce bar in the back.

Credit card/tap accepted
Not sure about bathroom
Indoor seating only

This is a great place to grab a quick meal – especially when you want hot pot without the wait. You pick out how much to want to eat and pay by weight, so it’s perfect for when your party has different levels of hunger. And it’s very yummy. It’s honestly probably just as good as normal hot pot hahaha you just have to eat kinda fast because there’s not like a fire under your bowl.

If you had trouble finding this place, ** it is on the McDonalds side (not the samwoo side).

Came here for lunch with my friend on a weekend day just as they were opening and the place was not busy at all. This was my first time at this location (having been to one in another city).

The staff greeted us in a welcoming fashion and explained how it worked – you grab a clear bowl and tongs from inside the cool fridge (yay for keeping things clean!), then grab anything you want from the items bar — then they weigh it and cook it either in broth of your choice or the dry stir fry version.

You do need a 1 lb minimum food order- which is about $14 per pound of ingredients (all are the same size).

We tried both the dry pot and the soup base (ordered the mushroom since I didn’t want spicy – and it was flavorful but light).

All the flavors were great and they keep their sauces in a covered area too. The inside has numerous tables small and large for you to sit at.

ONLY downside is that Ingredients bar – only has Chinese labels (none in English).

Drinks: by default you get water but also has a fridge for you to pay for bottled/can Chinese herbal teas and soft drinks.

Service: food came out fairly quickly since we were the first in line, but throughout our meal the staff kept checking on us to see if we needed anything else.

Definitely recommend this place! 🙂

Parking: FREE lot and free 2 hr street parking. Because this is shared with other restaurants you might have a tough time with parking here during peak hours and on weekends.

If you have ordered too much and need to take this home, you get a to-go container and a nice reusable tote bag for your food.

If you love toppings and want a quick, satisfying hot pot, this place is perfect! My bowl was $14, and it came with a generous amount of toppings (all hidden underneath, so you can’t see them at first ). I got the medium spicy classic broth, and it was really flavorful—just the right amount of heat with a little mouth-numbing kick. They also have a sauce station, so don’t forget to grab some to customize your bowl

Very flavorful soup base and fresh ingredients. The soup is rich and has sesame paste. It’s very good and reminds me of the individual hot pot places in China. The employee was very attentive and helpful. Definitely give this place a try!

Edit: the new guy is gone and now there’s a new new guy. Wishing the best to the old new guy

Guess who was back 2 more times in a week?!

Shoutout to the new cashier who let me know I dropped a $20 . Nice dude.

I’ve come here so many times in a short span the people working here will probably think we’re crazy

So happy this place opened up near my brother. Love malatang. And cheaper than the Bay Area. Pretty comparable with YGF; but different ingredients. And also love that this place is open late at night ❤️

Good place to grab a quick hot pot meal. Very reasonable price, but ingredients were not my favourite. Broth was good and sauce bar was good too.

Recently just opened. Soup tastes very good and refreshing! I got the classic bone soup with level 3 spicy. Great, late night place to eat since they close late. The workers are friendly and nice to help you out if you have a question. Would definitely come back!

Delicious! They finally opened! Clean and organized Chinese chain hotpot restaurant. You can go in and pick your own food then they turn it into hotpot for you. They have a good variety from meat to veggies. They even got crab stick and fish balls (my fav!). Different styles and different flavors available. I got the pork bone broth with level 2 spice, it was so yummy. They also have non pork bone based option like tomato and mushroom which I will try next time! Very friendly staff. Definitely recommend!!
