I wanted to give a three star review, but I felt bad since it may be a small business. Their wings are expensive and we paid for a dozen. They didn’t send twelve. That and the lack of toppings on the pizza are why I don’t want to leave five stars. But I did anyways.
Everything is as expected and the flavors and textures are all there, but the pizza lacks toppings. The missing buffalo wings are an honest mistake, but not one that should be made at $2 per wing. It isn’t worth the price for toppings because you don’t get them in every bite so half of your bites just taste like crust. So skip the wings when you order and pay for the double toppings if you want to be satisfied.
The risotto balls are amazing. Exactly what you want and perfect in texture. They deliver well too.
The wings were good. They got soggy during delivery and I prefer spicier, but they were great.
The pizza is flavorful and cooked to perfection. But they barely put any toppings on it. If you like Detroit style crust and a bit of sauce you’ll like it. If you want pepperoni or meatball or flavors other than bread and tomato, you’ll be ok with the order but not satisfied with the salty meaty goodness.

Side Door Pizza, if you’re a fan of the Detroit-style variety, is absolute bliss. A simple pepperoni pizza is one of the most satisfying items you’ll find anywhere in Navy Yard. They offer lunch specials and much more than just pizza, but the pies are what really stars here.
I will say that I did venture out and try some of the more exotic offerings, like the chicken parm pizza, which wasn’t quite as good. That may be due to the insanely high standards set by the pepperoni, though.
Order ahead and give them a good 20 minutes if you’re in the area.

Do not be fooled by the entrance. This pizza spot offers a lot more than just pizza. The wings and fries were tasty, but the pizza was fantastic. The chicken pram, mumbo, and chopped cheese made me wish I got the large.

Amazing pizza! This is one of our favorite places to go in the city, the Detroit style pizza crust is cooked to perfection and the cheese is always crunchy around the edges. 100% recommend!

An overdue review. Side door has always been a great neighborhood establishment, but their Thanksgiving service was the cherry on top. The team did a fantastic job, and you could really feel the care and consideration that went into making it happen.

Not gonna lie… I’m pretty disappointed, especially for the price. I’ve heard great things and was excited to try. Very basic. I was very disappointed that the cheese sticks and cheese pizza are the exact same thing with the exception of the sauce on the side or on top of the pizza. Case and point: they just baked a normal size cheese pizza, put sauce on half and cut the “cheese sticks” smaller (see pic). If I was to go again, I would try a different combo than all cheese.
Honestly… Red Light is better in DC for Detroit Style pizza locally. Wise Guys and Emmy Squared (chain or not it’s better) for Navy Yard.
Does have some outdoor picnic tables for those that want to get there food and eat there.

Crazy how bad our meal was, DC food scene is just not good. We got 2 chicken and mole burritos and had to reorder because they were made with cheese after requesting none and the second order came out cold and super underwhelming. The service/woman taking our order was pleasant but would not recommend the burritos.for $38 I’d say buy these ingredients and make them yourself

The pizza here is honestly great! I tried both the pepperoni and the Hawaiian, and wow—both were super tasty. The flavors were bold and delicious, and you could really tell everything was fresh. The crust had the perfect crispy bite, just the way I like it—crispy on the outside but still soft enough to enjoy every slice.
What really made it even better was the side of ranch. It paired perfectly with the pizza and added a little extra something to each bite. I’m usually picky about dipping sauces, but this one was spot on.
Overall, it was such a satisfying meal. If you’re craving pizza that’s flavorful, fresh, and cooked just right, this is definitely the place to go. I can’t wait to come back and try more toppings!

Five stars for a small business owner with great pizza and going absolutely the extra mile for customers.
Got a pizza (which was MAD tasty) and there was a pretty minor issue with the order and after a message on Insta, he went way past just making it right.
10/10 will be back…and I live in Detroit, so Detroit Style Pizza is in my blood.
The cheese blend on Moe’s Pie was, in particular a highlight.

Based on all the rave reviews, I wanted to see what the hype was all about. Since the mushroom was sold out, I ordered pepperoni. Not my favorite style of pizza, but it was pretty good. Lots of pepperoni, cheese and not too greasy, which I like. The slices are pretty dense so if you’re enjoying solo, you’ll have plenty of leftovers. The pickled sauce it came with was great and wish they’d give you more than just one. Overall, a good option if you’re craving pizza, but it’ll set you back $26.
