We happened to be passing through Mexia and the yellow-and-red sign (and packed parking lot) caught our eye. This place did not disappoint!

The heavenly sauce aroma made me almost too stupid to order, but don’t worry, if that happens to you, too, the nice folks at Wright’s will help you out! We got the sweet tea, sliced beef sandwich and warm peach cobbler.

Do not skip the peach cobbler…the fruit is perfect, and you get cracker-crisp top AND bottom crust, caramelized with sugar.

Absolutely wonderful BBQ.

It was alright. After reading the reviews. Yall fooled me. I guess yall locals haven’t been down South. It’s definitely not Luling, Lockhart or my hometown Mumfords #1 BBQ. Victoria TX.
Ribs were skinny and weak. Brisket was dry. They got me though, trying to sop it all in BBQ sauce. I should have known that was a dead giveaway. No smoke ring on the brisket. Im not gonna lie 16$ I ate that. One and done!

This place hasn’t changed in 40 years. First rate bbq with awesome sides. I’m guessing the gracious servers are the kids that used to be running around back in the eighties when I ate here regularly. What a pleasant surprise to see the place was still open and better than ever. Thank you for such a wonderful and nostalgic meal. This is as good as Bbq gets in Texas!

Good Lord this is good Q!!!
Brisket and ribs moist with what tasted like a careful, all-day smoking. Hot link plump and spicy. Sauce tangy/smoky. Love having collards for a side and the ranch-style beans are great!
Plus buttermilk pie if you have room!
Super-reasonable pricing!
Family-run and friendly!

Small location with all the regular Texas meats and some sides. They definitely showcase the meats by serving normal sides. When the menu has kool aid on it, you know it’s going to have something good to eat. Smoked sausage was good and
