Jamestown Settlement Cafe is a great spot to grab a bite to eat after touring the grounds. The cafe is well signed, staffed and has a selection of food for everyone in your group.
This cafe also accommodates large groups with a set menu!

We were able to talk to the presenters and ask questions because of low attendance, probably due to the time of year. The outdoor exhibits are fun and interactive, and the exhibition halls inside are so informative. The staff was also personable and helpful too. We were in the halls indoors for a couple of hours and no lines or crowds at all, so it felt like we had the galleries to ourselves. We still didn’t read everything even with no waiting. This is a wonderful place to visit and learn about American history.

The food was excellent! The grill was about to close at 4:00 PM and the chefs cooked up a feast for us. I am amazed that the prices are still reasonable in the wake of skyrocketing food prices due to supply chain shortages since the museum has a captive audience. This normally means outrageous prices similar to what you would experience in a airport while traveling. Between the (11) people, we pretty much had everything from burgers, Eastern NC style BBQ, fried fish, and pizza for about $103. That’s a little under $10 a person for those keeping score. That’s with no drinks. I would come here just to eat if I was in the area. Well done JS Cafe!!

The thought and expertise put into putting this museum together is outstanding. Multi dimensonicial, multi screen video presentations are not to be missed. Great exhibition of artifacts. Start at the first room and progress chronologically. The outside exhibition of the Indian village and Jamestown settlement are supplemented by period costumed, knowledgeable reinactors. Outside, on the water of the replicas of the three ships that brought the settlers to the American shore. All guides answer all your questions. Highlight of my seven day visit.

Some of the BEST pizza we’ve had! Seriously! We had a 16″ supreme and the flavors were spot on and they weren’t skimpy on the toppings. Yummy

For a place with do many food options, you can’t find a thing that isn’t delicious on the menu! I tried the Brunswick stew and chicken tenders with fries. It was all really good! The staff are also super friendly and kind and will carry on a conversation if you’re okay with that.

How should I describe the worst staff in the history of all mankind? My family and I went there for lunch on our visit to Jamestown. You would assume with the museum being open until 5pm that the Cafe would be open to at least 4:30 – nope, it was only open until 2pm. We got 2 baskets of chicken strips from the counter (which said they were $9.99 each basket). We also got two bags of chips and 3 drinks. Our bill was over $50.00 somehow (I’m glad that cashier added her own tip on our bill because there’s no way 2 bags of chips and 3 drinks were over $30)…but there were no other places around to eat so it was the only option.
Immediately, when we sat down to eat our meal, the cashier started moving seats in the dining areas to block off entire sections (sections which already had families sitting inside of them so she was blocking them from leaving). I guess fire codes are something this cashier doesn’t care about. The cashier then came over as soon as we sat down with our family to move chairs around us while huffing and puffing we were still there and didn’t eat our meal in our car.
Around 10 different families came into the cafe while we were sitting there. Each one of them was allowed to get their food and come to the counter before this cashier told them the cafe was closed entirely and they couldn’t check out. They all had to put their food back on the shelves and leave.
As we were leaving the cafe to go back and enjoy the rest of the museum, this cashier finally closed the door but she never locked it and she never took down the sign welcoming other people in. So, hours after we left, guests were likely still going in and this terrible woman was still telling them to put their food back and they were closed.
Honestly, this woman is lucky it’s just a museum because for the terrible customer service she provided – and it was horrible service with an angry grin on her face the entire time – if this was the actual Jamestown Settlement back in the day, she’d be the first to be voted out of the fort by the townspeople. We didn’t care they closed after we got our food but then close the doors and tell people you’re closed before you let them get their food and come to the checkout counter – or maybe don’t close 3 hours before the museum surrounding your cafe closes. At the very least, (when you’re mostly dealing with families), don’t have this terrible woman looking so angry at customers and grinning at children, running your register because she’ll single-handedly make the entire day a living nightmare for your guests and their families.

This place you have to go to when you visit the Foundation! They will always have someone who is available to assist you and you are never kept waiting. The food is always fresh and their grilled items are very delightful. Families and friends don’t forget to stop by this cafe for any of your lunch needs and be sure that they will have something on their menu to please your appetite.

I never thought I’d find myself reviewing a museum cafe, but here we are cuz the place was surprisingly yummy! Lots of offerings – truly something for everyone – and very reasonably priced considering they’re the only option if you want a snack or lunch. Service was really stellar, too

Wow, I got the ham salad sandwich and it was terrific! LOADED with ham salad, and there was a bar to add pickles, tomatoes, lettuce and other goodies. Daughter loved her tuna salad sandwich meal, and hubby his pizza. Great options!
