Hickory Tree Delicatessen was founded in 1978 by Lou Napolitano, his wife Joann, and father, Ralph. Almost forty years later, the deli is still very much a family owned place with Lou and Joann’s daughter and son-in-law, John and Stephanie still working in the store. They’re best known for their Sloppy Joe sandwich, which was an old family recipe, passed down by Lou’s father-in-law. They pride themselves on servicing the surrounding area with excellent service and great food.

There isn’t enough good to be said and this plance.. my family has been going here for 40 years and now that everyone has moved away I will drive the 2hrs from pa to get food from here. My personal favorite are the Joe’s but we get everything from thier bread to thier side dishes. Everytime I’ve been in there the service is great even when the customers are stacked in the place they find a way to help everyone..

I came here because Main Street Subs which is best is closed. I ordered the same exact sandwich I was going to get, half a turkey sloppy joe sub. it’s terrible here, the bread is terrible and there’s just something about it that’s different than Main Street I don’t know what it’s missing. And to top it off they are more expensive.

Out of the area now, HOWEVER, Hickory Tree Deli IS My go-to when visiting my parents in NJ!!!
In High-School, Worked at Hasler’s Pharmacy, a few doors doors down in the shopping center, just after they opened, Got hooked, for life!
Whenever I am in in town – I pack the cooler and order ‘many’ Sloppy Joes to bring South… Truly-a-Classic – and they do it right, everytime, pure perfection, on rye.
BTW: My son bought me two Hickory Tree Deli T-Shirts for Christmas – and I where them proud – especially when out of the country – Y’all ROCK!
Whenever the family comes to town – It is mandatory to order a party platter of ‘Joes to be shared upon arrival…. ALWAYS A WIN!!!
Gonna be back up soon – need to try the Pork-Roll, Egg and Cheese (Not getting into the Taylor…. debate…)
But the cooler is already prepped, and ready, for the excursion.
To bring The Love back home to NC.

By far, the best pork roll, egg and cheddar sandwich I’ve ever had. I honestly can’t wait to stop in again for another. The workers were very pleasant and service was fast. Great place. Only one complaint, they call pork roll taylor ham. This is Jersey! It’s pork roll!! lol

Great food, well priced, friendly staff. Never had bad food. Call ahead. They do get busy and sometimes pays off to call ahead than order at the location and have to wait longer depending on the time of day. Order before 11 am or after 1 pm and usually you are in and out pretty quickly.

This deli is worth the drive. First of all, there are 3 gluten free bread options which most delis don’t have. Then, try the cranberry mayo! They have 3 mayo blends but I’ve only tried the cranberry mayo and I even buy extra to take home for during the week. Rice pudding is great too!

I cannot say enough great things about Hickory Tree deli. The service is fast, everyone is so polite and the sandwiches are absolutely incredible. The price for the quality cannot be beat. As locals, it’s our go to at least once a week.
