The absolute best spot for breakfast or lunch in McMinnville! Run by a husband-and-wife team of chefs, these two serve truly amazing food! A favorite dish is the beautiful custard quiche and breakfast salad. Who doesn’t love a breakfast salad? The second favorite is the seasonal chop salad, loaded with pork belly, crisp greens, and the most incredible herby dressing. But wait, there’s more! They offer incredible European-style pastries and bread daily. Great coffee, excellent service, and a charming atmosphere make Mac Market a must-visit. Absolutely love this place!

The people of McMinnville are lucky — and if you’re visiting from outside, count yourself in that group if you make it to Alea Bakery and Café. We drove down from Portland, and it was absolutely worth it. This is the kind of food that could easily be going for twice the price in PDX.

The space itself is unique: modern, converted-industrial, with a few different seating options and a welcoming outdoor area. We went with the special of the day, the Beef Fry Bread — loaded with succulent strips of beef and shaved beets, a playful mix of richness and brightness that was indulgent but never heavy. The tartine, piled high with seasonal vegetables, hard-boiled egg, and fresh greens on a thick slice of their house-made country sourdough, was so perfectly done we had to come back for a whole loaf. That bread — perfect crust, shape, and crumb — makes each slice feel like a gift you want to hold onto.

The heirloom tomato salad was another standout, its sweet-acid balance lifted by plum paste, pickled squash, and a delicate katsuobushi emulsion that gave surprising depth and harmony. I’m still trying to figure out that dressing — wow. For dessert, we tried the birdseed cookies and grabbed an extra for later. Packed with seeds and dried berries, these are no ordinary cookies — they’re hearty, generous, and unlike anything we’ve had before.

Alea is a gem. The owners and staff are kind, clearly in love with food, and what they offer reflects their heart, dedication, and talent. Find it. Go. Try the special, grab a cookie, and don’t leave without a loaf of bread.

This was a very cute place with a warm atmosphere. I didn’t know I wanted my eggs coddled with creamy leeks, but it was so delicious. It was so balanced with the side of pickled vegetables and crunchy sourdough toast. The service was friendly and food was out quickly. I will definitely come back when I am in the area.

Came for the coffee. Came back for the pistachio croissant… twice. The baked goods here are truly some of the best! Simple, made with fine detail, and absolutely delicious. The breakfast sandwich deserves a permanent spot on the menu, my wife and I loved it and still think about it to this day. Alea Bakery & Cafe is a must-visit gem !

So excited for this new addition to Mac Mkt. Located in an old shoe grease factory in McMinnville. A shared space of multiple food shops and a community favorite hang out spot.
I love their breakfast sandwich. Basically a super elevated egg McMuffin. House made English muffin, good cheese and pork belly.
Oh my gosh! So good
And don’t even get me started on the pastries and sourdough bread.

Alea is redefining breakfast in McMinnville!
Imagine an extraordinary dining experience from the very first bite—that’s what Alea delivers. The pastries? Extra flaky, impossibly light, and absolutely irresistible. And then there’s the breakfast sandwich: not your traditional fare, but something far better.
Pork and polenta for breakfast? We never imagined it—and then BAM! One bite and we were asking ourselves, Where has this been all my life?! The attention to detail and the explosion of flavors are nothing short of astonishing.
Thank you, Alea, for elevating breakfast to an art form in beautiful McMinnville. This is not just a meal—it’s an experience you’ll never forget.

Stopped in Saturday afternoon for a Birdseed cookie and an Americano. Service was quick and friendly. The coffee was great and the cookie hit the spot! This was my first visit, but it won’t be my last. 🙂

Delicious pastries, good food, always seems to be something new in the case to keep things interesting, exceptional espresso (very rare that I find both good pastries/food and good espresso in the same establishment). All the staff are wonderful and kind.

There’s a bunch of magicians that work here. A really strong perfection and baked goods really wonderful flavors. If you see smoked fish in the menu, get it and don’t sleep on their breakfast. One of the best breakfast sandwiches in the valley.
