Went in on a Friday night in August. Their grand opening was only a month before, so seems like they had worked out a few things. Beautiful weather so everyone wanted to sit outside. It is very busy. Need to keep an eye out and grab tables as people leave. There is no reserved seating for outside. We went with friends and their 2 kids. So 6 in total. It was a bit of a wait to get a table, but you can get drinks on the patio. There were so many kids on the patio playing and there quite a few games for them to enjoy. If you don’t like kids squealing and playing around you in this setting, this is not for you. The pizzas were good and the beer is good too, there was table service outside.
We ordered the Big Mac styled pizza and it was actually really good. Tastes just like a big Mac on a pizza. The four white cheese pizza was great too. We also ordered mini corn dogs and breadsticks for the kids.
Overall a good spot for a meal and evening out.

Have to agree with some of the reviews here about the service and wait time. Went in today for the first time. Service was good, but it took forever (sit down 245pm get our pizzas 325pm) to get our pizzas out and when we got them the.crust was clearly over done. Only a handful of tables in the restaurant. Then as we were eating the pizza one of my family members found a hair, ugh.

We were actually on our way to a different brewery after a hike. But this place caught our attention. We pulled in and realized it was a new(ish) location for City Barrel, which is a favorite of ours. We had the crab Rangoon pizza, which was phenomenal! Our kids thoroughly enjoyed their kid’s meals. The nuggets came with some real legit tots. The beer was amazing as always. I even enjoyed my mystery can for only 5 bucks. Stop into this new location ASAP!

We actually were on our way to a different pizza place but they only had slices available, rather than whole pies. So we went here instead. Everything was phenomenal! The gentleman who worked this past Superbowl Sunday, made us feel at home! We highly recommend this restaurant! The food was delicious!

The staff were polite, attentive, and seemed like genuinely nice people. The place was clean and my order was ready on time. The building is pretty.
The tots I had patiently been eyeballing for 3 weeks online were a major letdown. Greasy, soggy, undercooked. Not anything tots should be.
The pizza cost more than comparable high end chains but had 1/2 the toppings and was about half the pizza mass. It was just okay, nothing to write home about.
Based on being the most expensive pizza place I have found in KC but lackluster pizza next to comparators, I will not be returning or recommending anyone come here.

Great experience. Excellent Chef prepared specialty pizzas. You can not get just one! Plenty of great City Barrel exclusive craft beers on hand. Excellent outdoor seating area. Great addition to the East Crossroads location. Both are amazing.

I have been twice to this location, and both experiences have been letdowns.
City Barrel beers are decent enough, as evidenced by their expansion & staying power in a competative and arguably dying industry. Unfortunately, this location just has some operational problems they need to sort out.
On both visits, I was with a larger group on the Patio (which is HUGE and set up for groups), and the server and kitchen seemed a bit ill equipped/trained to handle the volume. Both times I ran into (not inexcusably, but still) slow service & forgotten beers (which were just cans).
They also seem to have supply/stocking problems, and don’t update their menus to say when they are out of stuff. On my first visit, the “special” pizza I tried to order was sold out. On my second visit, 2 or 3 different beers people in my party tried to order were gone. This information needs to be communicated up-front instead of leaving people to scramble for backups on the spot when trying to order.
Really none of the pizzas, beers, or apps (like the overly sweet “Ranch Knots”) I have gotten were anything to write home about. Pizza Tascio is right up the street, has better pizza, and Waldo Pizza, BKS, Lew’s, etc. are all nearby if you want a large beer list. I don’t see the point in coming back here.

A welcomed addition to the neighborhood. Family friendly and a casual atmosphere. Would make a great spot to catch a beer with friends or a happy hour after work. The pizza is the perfect amount of crispy and doughy with unique speciality combinations. As for the beer it’s as good as always. Not only carrying the City Barrel classics but also offering additional local selections.
Welcome to the neighborhood!!

Okay. So yeah I’ll admit that I came to city barrel pizza + patio instead of going to my rock climbing session BUT in my defense I ate my roommate’s apple yesterday so I really haven’t been feeling good since she found out about that….i fancy myself kinda the bad boy in the group haha! ANYWAY thank heavens I didn’t end up going because I was able to stumble upon some of the best pizza in kc!!! Yeah I said it!!! Dave Portnoy I challenge you to come back and be greeted by the most wonderful staff in the entire world and sink your teeth into some perfect delicious pizza. I would recommend the Italian soda but I was told that they are discontinuing it….oh well, all good things must come to an end I suppose. Who cares about the Italian soda though when you have an awesome time with your friends at city barrel pizza + patio

What a great new space! We had the crab rangoon pizza, which was unique and tasty. Loved the exterior patio with all of the SWINGS! Lots of families and kids, with people walking and pushing baby strollers to come hang out and enjoy the new neighborhood pub! The staff was friendly and the place was inviting. Definitely going back!
