Basic Mexican grocery store on a corner with an eatery serving tacos, fresh juices & aguas frescas.

We came to La Chaparrita Taqueria and it felt different right away. It’s inside a grocery store, which is kinda cool. The moment you walk in, you smell the food and that alone pulls you in. There’s stuff hanging everywhere and I swear every time I looked around I noticed something new. The staff was nice and straight to the point, which I appreciated.
I ordered four tacos, two asada and two cabeza. The asada had great flavor. Smoky from the grill, juicy, and really well seasoned. Once you added the salsa, it hit just right. Every bite was spicy, a little tangy, and super satisfying.
But the cabeza tacos were the clear winners though. Very tender, really juicy, rich but not heavy at all. Easily my favorite. I wish I had ordered all four tacos de cabeza.
Also… If I had to say one thing, it’s that the tacos are on the smaller side for the price. They taste great, no doubt, but the size doesn’t quite match what you’re paying. Still, if you’re there for flavor and not counting dollars too hard, it’s worth trying.

This taco spot in Chicago is seriously my favorite and i’ve been here multiple times and has been consistent. The flavor is chef’s kiss perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with so much taste in every bite.
I especially love their al pastor and asada tacos. The al pastor is flavorful with that perfect balance of savory and a little sweet, and the asada is tender, smoky, and cooked just right. Every time I go, they hit!!!!
I’ve had tacos in LA, and honestly… these are better. Everything was just so good. If you’re in Chicago and want tacos that truly deliver, this is the spot.

The tacos are delicious, but they are on the smaller side. The staff is very nice and friendly. As soon as we walked in, they greeted us and asked if it was for here or to go and then they sat us down. They also serve beer and cocktails, but it is not on any menu online or in any photos. The habanero hot sauce is spicy and well-balanced.

Hands down my favorite tacos in Chicago! If you’re in Little Village, this spot is a must! It’s part grocery store, part taqueria, and honestly feels like you’re stepping straight into Mexico! The decor, the atmosphere, even the little details on the tables!
I’ve tried asada and al pastor tacos here. The asada was my personal favorite, but everything was packed with flavor! They serve radishes and limes at the table, plus cebollitas and chiles asados on the side. The tacos are smaller size, so if in doubt order more!
Service is fast, friendly, and consistent! Even when there’s a wait, you can tell the food is super fresh and worth it. Drinks are great too! The horchata is my personal favorite but their liquados are also amazing!
Overall, this place is authentic, affordable, and absolutely delicious. This is my go-to every time I’m in the Chicago area, I can’t wait to be back!

Tiny but mighty tacos with so much flavor! The Al Pastor could very well be the best in the city. The Suadero is a must, as are the Cebollitas Asadas (essentially tiny onions cooked in amazing flavors that you pop in your mouth). Aguas Frescas is also such a good change of pace and balance from the spicy food and salsas
Will go back repeatedly with out of town guests!

Only good things to say about his spot. One of my absolute favorites in the area. Tried suadero for the first time here and it’s really delicious but the star of the show is the Al Pastor. Must order! I frequent here and you should too.

Their tacos are smaller, street-style but packed with enough meat to more than make up for it. Simple, delicious, and hard to mess up. Both the asada and al pastor were juicy, flavorful, and cooked well. The salsas were excellent. Horchata was also great: milky and pleasantly cinnamon-forward. My only gripe is that the al pastor was more like minced pork than thin layers shaved off the spit.

They were actually pretty good tacos! I had cecina and tripas. The cecina was my favorite. I loved that the has radishes and JUICY limes at the table. Im tired of getting two little pieces that have two drops of limes and no radishes. I also loved that they have cebollitas and chiles asados as a side!
I was disappointed at the small size of the tacos. I am always disappointed when my tacos are small though.
I personally was not a huge fan of their sauces. I like the more traditional salsa verde and salsa roja.
But over all, pretty good tacos.

We LOVED this place! It is a grocery store and restaurant combined. The variety of tacos were like any restaurant we have been to in Mexico. Highly recommended
