I came here for Sunday dinner. I was going to rate the food 2 stars, but had to lower it after feeling nauseous for an hour or more after eating. I have been to dozens of Asian/Chinese buffets, and this was one of the worst. Let me start with the positive. The skewered chicken was delicious, the best I have had. The Hibachi chicken and Peppered Shrimp were excellent. The seafood bake, Tso’s chicken, and dim sum were quite good, and the beef in the beef and broccoli was tasty. The green beans, wontons, egg rolls, egg drop soup, and a few other items were pretty good. The jalapeño chicken was weird; it included green onions, celery, and mushrooms. The stuffed mushrooms were a mixed bag: good flavor, but undercooked with a little too much cream cheese, and there was a texture/consistency that was unsettling. While the skewered chicken was wonderful, one of them was loaded with perhaps a little too much chicken (too thick) and was pink inside. Probably safe, but it was dim and hard to tell exactly how pink it was. The sweet and sour sauce was cheap (weak and overly sweet). The fish was bland. The vegetables in the beef and broccoli were undercooked and dry. The rolls were dry. The wasabi was a nasty green liquid that tasted wrong, and the ginger was dry. The greatest offense, however, was the state of the sushi. Every roll appeared to have been sitting out since the restaurant opened (probably 5 or 6 hours). I tried 4 or 5 of the best looking pieces and had some seaweed salad. I regretted it. They were dry and unappetizing, made worse by the addition of wasabi and ginger. The seaweed salad actually had some hardened, dried strands in it. They should not have had that stuff on the bar. I can’t believe they wouldn’t at least replace the old rolls with fresh rolls when dinner arrived. It was clear they had not. For one of only a handful of times in my life I finished my meal and left with the fear of indigestion or even food poisoning. On top of that, it was $14 per person! It should not be more than $8 for the quality they offer, and that’s overlooking the sushi, which really should get them shut down.

Sue Chi was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing! Very polite and very attentive. We’ve had bad experiences in the past and this is by far the best visit we have ever had! It would definitely bring more business to have kind people waiting on individual’s, as she was to us.

Y’all ever had that good Chinese food? This is that. And you can tell everybody knew that because the rolls were untouched. Everybody went straight for the pork, The beef, the chicken. Ooh that fried chicken was juicy!

Food was good and hot, service was non existent but it’s a buffet and to be expected. It’s decent food, fills the belly, reasonably priced.

Staff are hard working and courteous. Food is generally very good.We especially enjoy the soups which is a main reason for coming. We also love the presence of many different groups ages and ethnic, a delight which one doesn’t see elsewhere in Kirksville. The manageress, Annie is courteous and considerate all through one’s visit and is careful to respect senior discount when we come every Sunday unless we are out of town. The gentleman who also manages is courteous when we come in but when we come to pay after the meal,it would be helpful if he would be a little less cold. When I asked yesterday for our usual senior discount he refused and said it only was available Monday thru Thursday. I said that we always receive it but he did not respond. We only come on Sundays and Annie the manageress is always careful to make sure we receive it. But I chose not to argue with him. I certainly would understand if he had made an effort to explain and show some friendly courtesy. Courtesy and friendliness when people leave as well as when they enter is important to us and determines the quality of any business.

I don’t usually leave a review but after the third time of being treated so rudely at King’s Buffet I felt it necessary. I will say food was decent. Server was not accommodating at all was brought a glass of water . With very very little ice . I asked to have just a class of ice and I got another glass of water with very very little ice. Asked to have extra napkins did not get them until.was almost done. Which is not acceptable. Never once checked on us . I had to stop server as they went by our. With all.this being said I worked in a restaurant for 18 yrs. This not how you treat customers!!!!!

King’s buffet provides what you want from a buffet and more. Helps out that it’s reasonably priced, especially for the surrounding community and college students. Trays are refilled fresh with the staples you know and love – my personal favorite being the bbq roast chicken. Can’t ask for much more!

I have been here a few times. Food is okay. Like almost every Chinese restaurant don’t expect any smiles or friendliness from the staff. The servers refill drinks and take empty plates. There are no extra napkins at the table. You have to ask the server for more. They save a lot of money and trees by doing this. Every time I have been here I have to ask for refills of my drink. Only once have drinks been on the table before I got back from getting my first plate. The servers drop off the check then you have to go to front to pay the manager. They try to get you to pay cash by charging a fee. Tonight I was dining alone my dinner was $15.49 on the check I had. Most of the time I pay without the check because I don’t want to wait for the server to drop it off so I can then wait in line to pay. An idea I would like to suggest is having the server take the payment. Then he told me $16.49 total and it was $1 extra for using a card. Every time I pay that extra fee it rubs me the wrong way. I don’t want to be penalized and I don’t want to have to bring cash to avoid it. This place is not great so I don’t plan coming back.

If you like Chinese food, this buffet is one of the best in north Missouri. It is moderately priced, the wait staff does an amazing job even if you go in with 20 people.
I recommend going in on a Friday or Saturday night, their seafood buffet is great.
We go at least once a month.
