Despite what most of these “so called critics” have to say, the service was amazing!! Staff is very friendly and the chef is very talented. Making a vast variety of different dishes known to blow your socks off. Showing mastery in the field. As a fellow food reviewer/ critique from the NY side— this is definitely a uniquely warm inviting experience! From one food baddie to another, please invite your taste buds to an amazing delightful experience.

Off The Trail Cafe has only been open for less than a year, but the place has brought a vibe to our little town that is so loved & appreciated. Great food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere all contribute to a welcoming place. Not only is it a great stop for hikers, but other visitors and locals find it to be a perfect place to get a great breakfast and lunch, sweet treats and a perfect variety of coffees and drinks. Local foods like Peaches and Cream Ice Cream are a real treat in warm weather and local favorites like the legendary Toymakers Waffles & Hannah’s Donuts are not to be missed. Nate (the Great!) is a great cook and owner Liz is very talented, too. All the staff is wonderful. Outside seating where you can relax in our beautiful village with your dog or with your hiking or bicycle friends are a big plus. And when the weather is cold, a warm drink inside a clean and cozy place is very enjoyable. Local items are for sale, and lots of perfect items for the hikers are available. Liz & Howie have definitely done their research and know what makes everyone happy. They sure have made our little town happy and we look forward to many more years of scrumptious food & good vibes!

Loving this new cafe! Off The Trail is spacious, the staff is really friendly & the food is great. They also have lots of outdoor seating. I had a latte w/almond milk, the sausage, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich, potatoes (came w/the sandwich), a cinnamon roll & a latte. Generous portions & everything was tasty. I got it to go & all was in great order when I got home. I am picky about cinnamon buns, this one was nice & yeasty (It didn’t make it out of the shop…it was so good that I ate the whole thing while waiting for my order!). I went during their soft opening & everything was running smoothly. I look forward to going back again.

Such a great café right in the center of town! Liz is the absolute sweetest and really took the time to listen to dietary needs, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. And the Bear Burrito? Incredible!! Highly recommend this cafe if you’re looking for good food and kind people.

Great food, great service, and great location. Very cute local Cafe, good prices, with food that exceeds expectations. The chicken and waffles are a perfect amount of subtle sweetness with savory flavors. Definitely recommend (as a guy from the Deep South). Also, the Rise and Shine (croissant sandwich) with added bacon was really good. The bacon was at a perfect crisp level.

Decided to give this place a try for lunch and it did not disappoint. The chicken sandwich was delicious and by the looks of their burger, anyone would enjoy it. Friendly atmosphere and one that appears like they care about the quality of their food and cafè. The owner was working the counter right alongside her employees and even cleaned the dining room with a smile. Will be returning for breakfast!

Charming Mornings at Off the Trail Café

Nestled in the picturesque Falls Village, Connecticut, Off the Trail Café is a delightful find that promises a fabulous breakfast experience worth savoring. From the moment you arrive, the café exudes a welcoming charm that makes it the perfect spot to start your day.

Set against the backdrop of the beautiful New England landscape, the café’s location is simply ideal. With its proximity to scenic trails and local attractions, it’s a haven for both locals and visitors/those off the hiking trails looking to refuel before or after an adventure. The outdoor seating area allows patrons to soak in the serene surroundings while enjoying their meals.

The breakfast menu at Off the Trail Café is a true highlight. It offers an impressive variety of options that cater to every palate. Whether you’re in the mood for classic favorites or something a bit more adventurous, there’s something for everyone.

I opted for the *signature breakfast burrito*, filled with fluffy scrambled eggs, fresh veggies, and a hint of spicy salsa—each bite bursting with flavor. The *Toy Makers waffle*, light and fluffy, were a revelation, drizzled with homemade maple syrup that added the perfect touch of sweetness.

The food itself is nothing short of fabulous. Each dish is prepared with care and attention to detail, showcasing fresh, locally sourced ingredients that elevate the flavors. The coffee/latte was equally impressive, rich and robust, providing the ideal pick-me-up to complement the meal.

The café’s cozy interior, adorned with rustic décor, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive, making you feel like part of the family. Their enthusiasm for the menu is infectious, and they’re always ready to recommend their favorites.

Off the Trail Café is not just a place to grab breakfast or lunch, it’s a delightful culinary experience that leaves you eager to return. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Falls Village, make sure to stop by. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a memorable meal while soaking in the beauty of the area.

Friendly cafe very close to the Appalachian trail. Nice vibes. Coffee was a medium roast 3.75/5, but no complaints. Cookies also tasty and staff was very nice

We loved this place, stopping in on our tour of autumn leaves! I am obsessed with the Yogi cookie. Any chance the recipe is available somewhere? If I didn’t live in Brooklyn, I would buy them out every Saturday! Great find.

Off the trail is absolutely lovely. It’s a perfect spot to stop in after a hike, for a quick bite, or a coffee with friends. There is always a new fresh baked good every time I come that are delicious, and new exciting healthy or sweet food items. Outside has a wonderful atmosphere on the green, dog friendly outside, with cornhole and beautiful rocking chairs and picnic tables. The inside is so cozy and comfortable with beautiful artwork and lots of cool things for sale. Everyone here is extremely friendly and it makes you feel like you’re part of the town. I’ve tried the chicken sandwich, bacon egg and cheese, turkey sandwich and crepes ! And everything exceeded my expectations. These are the crepes I got today, Brie cheese with fig and apples and a pistachio chocolate and strawberry. With a mocha late with oat milk. Highly reccomend trying and seeing the falls after like I did !!
