I went there last night with my friend who’s visiting from out of town. They were able to accommodate our last minute booking, which was fantastic.
Our server Adrian was really nice, he explained everything so well, gave us great wine recs and gave us a complimentary desert.
The food was omg, indescribable, starting with perfectly cooked bread, then super fresh salads, and cooked-to-perfection sea food, my friend got pasta that he enjoyed, I got surf and turf which was mind blowing.
The price ranged seemed perfectly reasonable for the quality.
I will be going there again for sure.
Thank you, Adrian and Em. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

i celebrated my birthday at Violino’s Restaurant and it was very nice, the staff was very nice especially our server Michelle! The food was good but a bit too salty on the surf and turf, but other than that it was really good! The atmosphere is very lively!

While visiting Edmonton from the UK, I was invited to Violino as a gift by my daughter’s close friend. Set in the Glenora area, the restaurant occupies what appears to be a charming, old listed-style building, giving it immediate character and a sense of occasion. Parking was straightforward on arrival, and the entrance itself is warm and attractive, though it’s worth noting that the building does not appear to be easily accessible for guests with mobility needs.
We were greeted politely by a hostess and shown to a corner table. The space was somewhat tight, but the atmosphere throughout the dining room was lively and refined, with a clear sense that this is a well-established local favourite.
The food, in parts, was Good. A Caesar salad to start was thoughtfully presented, featuring fresh parmesan, balsamic notes, and a crisp shard of prosciutto — well-balanced and satisfying (4/5). The main course of halibut, however, fell short of expectations for a restaurant of this calibre, lacking the finesse and flavour one would hope for (2/5). Desserts redeemed the experience somewhat: a classic crème brûlée with medium  texture and flavour (3/5). A perfect crème brûlée is cool, weightless custard beneath a warm glass-thin caramel lid — rich but restrained, classic yet precise, leaving you wanting just one more spoonful.
The crème brûlée, while enjoyable, lacked the finesse expected at the top end. The caramelised sugar layer did not achieve the ultra-thin, glass-like crack that defines an exceptional brûlée, instead leaning slightly heavy. Beneath, the custard was rich but verged on cloying, missing the lightness that invites repeated spoonfuls. A pleasant dessert overall, but one that ultimately settles at 3/5 rather than standing out.
Unfortunately, the service was inconsistent and ultimately the reason for a more reserved overall rating. While clearly experienced, the lead waitress came across as overly confident, with a manner that felt brusque rather than welcoming — particularly noticeable for first-time visitors. During the preparation of a flaming parmesan presentation tableside, sparks from the alcohol flame flew unexpectedly, handled with a lack of care that felt avoidable.
More concerning was a moment during the starter course when another waitress repeatedly reached fully across my face and plate — mid-meal — to pass utensils to my daughter. This happened three times and felt intrusive and discourteous. For a restaurant positioning itself at this level, such basic service etiquette should be second nature.
Overall, Violino delivers strong atmosphere and moments of culinary quality, but inconsistent service detracted significantly from the experience. With greater attention to guest awareness and refinement in front-of-house service, it could more fully live up to its reputation.
Food:
Caesar salad: 4/5
Halibut: 2/5
Crème brûlée: 3/5
Service: 2/5
Overall: 3/5

Some good things (food), some bad (service) but overall a lacking experience, an the automatic gratuity made it a disappointing value.

We went for the Valentine’s Day set menu experience. The food was well presented and very tasty. However, the service was terrible. It took 20 minutes after seating for the server to come by our table to ask for drinks and things went downhill from there.

The restaurant is interesting and has a nice atmosphere. The multilevel aspect of it actually reminds me of restaurants in France and Italy. The staff was reasonably friendly just not terribly attentive and seemingly very inexperienced. I come from a fine dining service background and am usually somewhat forgiving but the service made this experience difficult to take. As is so often the case, the person serving the food can make or break how you feel about a meal and the value for the experience.

I would try the restaurant again, but only because the food was good. I hesitate because I don’t want to relive the service experience and given the service experience, the cost ($200+ per person with an automatically applied 20% gratuity) was far too high. I normally tip more than 20% for dining experiences and do not cringe from paying hundreds of dollars for meals but while the food at Violino’s was deserving, the service was not.

Went here for my birthday with my partner, and the experience was phenomenal from start to finish! The food was incredible — I usually don’t care for seafood, but I tried lobster tail for the first time and it completely won me over. It was absolutely delicious!

Our server (I wish I remembered her name) was fantastic and went above and beyond for a special request we had. Her service really made the night feel even more special.

Yes, the prices are on the higher side, but this is definitely a fine-dining restaurant, and it was worth every cent for the freshness of the food and the outstanding service. Highly recommend for a special occasion!

Went for dinner the other night with my gf, it was pretty fancy, staff was friendly, the food was pretty delicious. The presentation was nice the dessert was pretty good too. Gotta have pretty high standards to crap on a local business like this. Will be definitely going back side note the calamari was very good one of the best me and my gf have had.

I took my wife to Violino Ristorante yesterday to celebrate her birthday, and it was a perfect experience.

Housed in a stunning historic home built in 1913, the restaurant’s atmosphere was warm, elegant, and ideal for a special occasion. The food was incredible; every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavour. The service was impeccable, with attentive and thoughtful staff who made the evening truly memorable.

Violino Ristorante is a standout dining experience in Edmonton, and I highly recommend it. Five stars!

High class restaurant.
The place is hiding.
I try the Rib Eye that cost me arm and leg, but it was so good.
The service is great, the drink is a bit too sweet (non alcoholic beverage).
Over all, a great experience.
Don’t come if you worry about the price.
