June 2024: Yummy sushi in not too crowded Great Falls, VA. The tempura dinner came with miso soup and rice. Rate that platter an 8/10. Ordered 4 rolls, the spicy tuna roll being the best. Overall also 8/10. Nice dining room and pretty good service. See pics.

We live in Great Falls and come into this restaurant at least a couple of times a week. Over the years they have significantly improved service and friendliness. But it’s often very loud due to their acoustics and large parties. To make it worse, many people talk on cell phones or play videos, which is annoying when you’re trying to have a nice dinner. I strongly encourage them too follow a number of other restaurants which put up tactful signs, encouraging people not to use cell phones inside the restaurant. I doubt this would hurt their business, and would certainly improve the atmosphere

Many years ago, we had a less than stellar experience here and hadn’t been back until our neighbor told us how much she liked it. Tonight we tried it again and were delighted. The sushi was fresh and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back!

I ordered Yu Shan Chicken, as well as Beef with Spring onions… BOTH dishes were completely wrong. The beef with spring onions didn’t have a SINGLE green onion. ZERO. The Yu Shan Chicken dish did not have any mushrooms or bamboo shoots… additionally the Yu Shan which indicates “spicy” with a fire icon was possibly one of the sweeeeetest dishes I’ve ever had. To label it as “Spicy,” even for the underdeveloped layman is QUITE a stretch.
I have lived in Great Falls for 20 years and have been to Izumi many many times since it first opened. And let me say this with a heavy heart that… the service here has ALWAYS been abysmal. Every. Single time. The server appears annoyed while taking orders, bringing out waters for the table, and even when we asked to wipe down the dirty booth they’ve sat us in. These behavior was a pattern for YEARS. After years of horrible and rude service at this location, my family and I transitioned to only carry-out.
Now they can’t even get a simple food order right!

Izumi is great. The sushi is fresh and they have a huge menu including Chinese food options. We order it online and it delivers really well.

While the atmosphere did not seem to be the most inviting, it was worth the visit because the sushi was amazing.
We tried their “most popular” rolls and each one was delicious. Their avocado and mango salad was fresh and amazing! If I’m in the area again and in the mood for sushi I will pop in.

Ordered twice cooked pork. It was sweet and not what is traditionally twice cooked pork. The pork was small bits and the rest was white cabbage. Not spicy as indicated on the website

I’ve eaten many times at Izumi since they opened 10 years ago. This is the only Japanese restaurant in Great Falls and that’s part of the reasons we keep going back. Food is good, prices are reasonable. Service used to be bad but has gotten better.
