I will start off by saying the service was good. Our waitresses were friendly and attentive.
With that said…. This is the worst Mexican restaurant my wife and I have ever been to. The food was awful and overpriced. I had a pork dish that was recommended by our waitress. The pork was extremely dry and flavorless. My wife ordered enchiladas they were awful as well. They looked like they came out of the microwave and had two Kraft singles melted on top for cheese instead of any kid of real cheese. Both of these dishes were almost 20$ each. The worst meal was our daughter’s. 11$ got her the kids quesadilla with a side of fries. The quesadilla was obviously 2 soggy, microwaved tortillas with shredded cheese in between which was comical because they could have used that cheese on my wife’s enchiladas.
I don’t review restaurants unless they are really good or really bad this place is really bad do yourselves a favor and eat at any other restaurant in the state, including fast food restaurants, or buy freezer food and warm it up at home before you eat here you will be Mitch better off.
The one star is for the good service.

Start with the positives: friendly staff, cute decor. My husband enjoyed his pork dish. The guacamole was good, creamy and fresh, very simple.
Negatives: salsa was bland, chips were too hard. My birria taquitos (because they were out of barbacoca) was dry and bland. My habanero wings tasted like buffalo, so I think they got my order wrong. My daughter’s rice was mushy, the fries were limp. (Yes I know we ordered untraditional fare, it’s what sounded good based on what they offered)
I was caught off guard because they had such good reviews but I should’ve known something was wrong because they were empty at 6pm on a Friday.

By far one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants! The food and drinks are delicious and creative and the staff is friendly and attentive. Many menu items can be made vegan or vegetarian without compromising on the integrity or flavor of the dish – just ask! The drinks are really good and often include a creative twist that is totally picture and video worthy. And who doesn’t love to support a small family business? If you’re going for drinks try their specialty drinks – the La Catrina drink comes with a “surprise “ – or trying one of their tasty margs – the coconut was my fave!! Will definitely be coming back ❤️

As a huge foodie I’m always looking for the next best spot and let me tell you! La catrina is it!! More than 100% worth the trip from Stamford to Southington. 10/10 would go out my way for La Catrina again. Drinks are delicious and the food is even better. You can tell the food and drinks are made with tons of love and attention. Super authentic and service makes sure that your visit is spectacular. Special thank you to Tommy and Jessie for being such awesome and attentive hosts! I will be recommending everyone to trek up there. 🙂

Highly recommend this place on a weekday ! Weekends are filled with crazy people who expect food 2 minutes after ordering. (I witnessed a guy and his family yell at a staff member on a busy Saturday night and ultimately made staff member cry) so save yourself the heartbreak.
I returned during lunch and WOW !!!! As a bartender myself working in the food industry, I appreciate the effort in using real limes in a margarita!!! The agave is the perfect touch of sweetness it needed.
Food was great, I had the Aguachiles, and of course a margarita! My co worker had a coconut mojito, not pictured.
Just a friendly reminder : Fresh food takes time to cook! Fast food comes out in 2 minutes.
YOU BE THE JUDGE,

I never usually leave reviews, but La Catrina was so wonderful I had to! The interior design is warm, inviting and unique – the food was delicious and reasonably priced – and the staff was super friendly and kind. We had the fresh pico and steak burritos with the La Catrina margarita, highly recommend!

Came here for a quick lunch and it did not disappoint! We ordered nachos and a quesadilla for my son. Food came out quickly and it was better than I expected. We’ve been to many different Mexican restaurants and by far this has been the most authentic one by far. Not to mention the service was excellent the owner was so nice and attentive to us from start to finish. The place was impeccably clean as well. They will definitely be in our rotation of restaurants. They have made a forever customer!

Not my first time here and I absolutely love their nachos and drinks and service is usually awesome, however my friend and I went for dinner tonight and I was extremely disappointed. They had a salsa class going on so I’m not sure if the lack of quality was because of that.
I ordered the nachos and they were not cooked at all. It was like they microwaved them the cheese wasn’t even melted and the whole plate was cold. My friend said her quesadillas were cold as well.
Usually when we walk it we are greeted and walked to a seat however this time it was like we were a bother.
