House of Commons is a Bourbon bar in the heart of downtown Frankfort that features an extensive collection of current and vintage bourbons, curated flights, and craft cocktails. As the unofficial start of the bourbon trail it will represent expressions from every bourbon distillery in the state. This was a very cool experience. The gentleman behind the bar is a whiskey historian. What great customer service! And you have so many options. Do you like Scotch? Or do you prefer bourbon? Do you understand the difference? Regardless of the type of whiskey you’re into, these guys can both educate you and take you on a whiskey tasting adventure.
I was in town with my siblings for a wedding. We are all born and raised in Las Vegas but we currently live in different places. This by far was a phenomenal experience. There was no wait on a Friday afternoon, but I definitely imagine this place probably picks up over the weekend.
100% must visit!! Five Star service; five-star quality; five-star atmosphere.
Side note- if you order the old-fashioned, eat the cherry. It’s worth it I promise.

This unique bar in downtown Frankfort is classy cool and maybe just a bit intimidating on first visit. There is no menu and everything on the walls is Kentucky bourbon. It’s great for a bourbon enthusiast! If you are not that’s ok. The people behind the bar tell you they have a rolladex of every bourbon and price point. You tell them some flavors or brands you like and they build a flight ranging in price point from 30ish to 300ish dollars. Flights can be a single tasting to the more typical 4 or 5 pours. I highly recommend letting them curate a flight vs you ordering something you like or are familiar with as you’ll learn something new I’m sure and try a bunch of bourbon your probably haven’t seen before. If you are not a bourbon fan I can’t really say you should visit but don’t worry if you do get brought in by a friend or partner that loves bourbon they have a cocktail menu which while limited covers the basics.

Unparalleled bourbon experience! The proprietor checked my husband’s preferences and tailored a flight of bourbon. It was outstanding! The tasting had some nice surprises! Beautiful setting as well! I had a gin & fig cocktail that was superb. They even had Prosecco – served in a glass so gorgeous it gives Devil Wears Prada vibes! That’s all!

The place looks fancy with a big bourbon selection, but the layout feels tight when it gets crowded. It was a little hard to move around, especially near the bar area. That said, staff were friendly and seemed knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. If you’re into bourbon and want to hang out somewhere that feels upscale, it’s worth trying out.

HOC- The Bourbon Library is one of our favorite bourbon cocktail spots. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm and welcoming team. The bartenders are incredibly knowledgeable and always happy to guide you through their selections.
The cocktails are creative, refreshing, and there’s always something new on the menu to try. Whether you’re a bourbon lover or just looking for a great drink experience, this place never disappoints.

Always a 5 star establishment! We went during a downtime on a Saturday and enjoyed getting to have a nice chat with the bartender at the time. He was a very friendly gentleman, and I wish I could remember his name. He had no problems telling us the difference and history behind the Blantons bottles of bourbon they had. Overall, the drinks were amazing. My husband says you can’t beat their old fashion me personally. I always go for their sugar cookie. It’s the little details they add to their drinks that really make them stand out. I love the sparkly sugared rim of the sugar cookie drink. The branded ice cube and orange twist for the old fashion just make it a very beautiful drink to order as well. We are also a huge fan of just how classy and beautiful this bar is. The pink glowing bar, the beautiful golden touches with the darker walls is breath taking its like something out of a high class magazine.

David and team have curated one of the most extensive bourbon libraries, filled with current and vintage releases. David took time to understand our likes, dislikes, proof preference, and budgets before pulling his recommendations for custom flights. He took his time in explaining reasoning and provided opportunities to change any bottles we didn’t feel hit the vibe, though we made no changes and in fact added additional pours based on his vast knowledge and stewardship of the bourbon craft. HOC is stunning from a visual perspective, and the vibes matched. Excited to visit David and his team again soon.
