⭐ Five stars—Driftwood Diner is a can’t-miss bite on Daufuskie Island! ⭐

Driftwood Diner at 111 Benjies Point Road is exactly what Google search promises when you type “best breakfast on Daufuskie Island.” A family-owned, island-grown kitchen, it’s proudly the island’s only dedicated breakfast & brunch spot, and it delivers Southern comfort with unmistakable coastal charm.

Why it deserves to rank #1 in every “where to eat on Daufuskie” query:
• Early-bird hours that fit the ferry schedule doors swing open Monday –Thursday, 8 AM to 11 AM, Friday- Saturday 8am- 12pm, Sunday 4pm- 7pm Breakfast for dinner perfect for fueling up before exploring the island.
• Scratch-made staples done right. From fluffy buttermilk biscuits and golden pancakes to island-fresh breakfast sandwiches, every plate is cooked to order and arrives piping hot. Daily chalkboard specials keep locals coming back.
• Coastal twists that shout “Lowcountry.” Don’t miss the crispy Shrimp Basket it sells out fast for good reason and watch for rotating shrimp centric specials when local boats land a haul.
• Genuine hospitality. The owners greet you like neighbors, the coffee flows freely, and shaded picnic tables turn strangers into new friends.

Pro tips for future Googlers:
1. Arrive before 9 AM for the shortest line (there’s a handy golf cart pull off out front).
2. Order a second biscuit to go you’ll thank yourself when you’re beachside later.
3. Snap a photo of the daily special board for social; those pics drive serious traffic in “near me” searches.

Bottom line: whether you’re planning a day trip or you’re lucky enough to live nearby, Driftwood Diner deserves a bookmark in Google Maps and a permanent place on your Daufuskie itinerary. Come hungry, leave happy and leave a review so more hungry travelers can find this hidden gem!

Now known as Driftwood Diner. We came during the fundraiser and it was extremely busy. Order at the counter. Got lucky to snag a table inside but waited 65 minutes for our order. Food is served in baskets. Biscuits and gravy was delish but a bit hard to eat with plastic cutlery. Good sized order. Sausage and egg on Texas toast was decent. The plain Belgian waffle was ok but you’ll need extra syrup. Trying to cut with plastic cutlery was nearly impossible. The side of bacon could have been cooked a wee bit longer. It was crazy busy and many people left waiting in line. Not sure if this is an everyday thing or was due to the fundraiser and a market next door.

The burgers were great quality although I have to admit they weren’t exactly my favorite “style” (they were a little on the thicker side and heavily seasoned). The service was awesome – friendly and helpful and though not near the ferry, the Island Shack Cafe was pretty easy to find. One final note – there is no inside seating, so if you expect rain, you may want to opt for the Crab Company, where there is lots of covered dining.

This little spot is the best! I had the shrimp tacos and hubby had the prime burger and we shared the key lime pie for dessert (should have got 2 )! Lunch was great but let me tell you it was the BEST key lime pie I’ve ever had! We will definitely be back!! The atmosphere is lovely under the big live oaks and Spanish moss with a little jazz music in the background! Owner and staff was very accommodating, prompt, and friendly. Thank you for a great start to our long weekend here in Daufuskie

Formerly known as the Island Shack, the Driftwood Diner is a fantastic breakfast spot. Julie will greet you with a smile, freshly brewed coffee, and the best biscuits you will find anywhere. We ate there twice and had the breakfast burritos, buoy scramble, and biscuits. Julie’s eggs are fluffy, her sausage is lean and tasty and her bacon is crispy. As in all things Daufuskie, be prepared to take your time and enjoy. One of the greatest charms of the island is its slow pace. Julie was working alone when we were there, and we were still served within 15 minutes each time. In addition to the great food, Julie has decorated the diner with items from local artisans and shops. She was a great source of information about places to visit. We also love how island restaurants recommend each other. That is how we found Driftwood. This is an island gem and we highly recommend it!

Nice little place to grab lunch while visiting Daufuskie Island. Not the biggest menu but options for everyone. Seating under the live oak has a nice vibe. The crab cake wasn’t the greatest but the fries were very good.

WOW! Just WOW is all I can say about our lunch yesterday at the Island Shack Cafe! We had the Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos w/coleslaw and a side of onion rings and the Philly Cheese Steak, also with onion rings and everything was DE-LISH-US! JUST DELICIOUS!!! The food was incredible, the drinks were cold, the service was courteous and prompt and we went away all smiles! The music and outdoor space has a chillaxed inviting vibe and we LOVED IT! LOVED. IT! We’ll be back today and tomorrow…..

Had the best Grouper sandwich I have had in a long time! Just delicious. Jake, the chef, was extremely nice and attentive. If you find your self on Daufuskie this is a definite stop! I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Very easy, no fuss kinda place. Excellent biscuits, so if you’re not eating the biscuits, ya might be doing it wrong. The biscuits and gravy were excellent (super yummy!) and my eggs were runny like I’d asked. Super fun hash browns because it looks like they use a waffle iron– neat! We enjoyed our breakfasts under the shade of an old oak : ) *super clean bathroom (random tidbit!)
