Back in 2010 my younger brother (Bear) started a restaurant named GrantLees a BBQ civil war themed restaurant. I helped once in a while when I wasn’t working on the road. After a couple of years he sold it to another brother (Bubba) who converted his snowmobile trailer into a food trailer and so I talked to him bought his trailer and my own smoker and Bubba even came up with the name, and The Outpost was born.

Brisket sandwich
1/4 rack of ribs
Coleslaw
Smokey, Sweet and Original BBQ sauces.
I don’t know if it’s because I visited during the winter season, but the brisket sandwich was super dry. Tender, but dry; it was like eating a biscuit. Thought the sauces might help but they were nothing short of regular BBQ sauces. The ribs were alright at best, still on the dry side. Coleslaw was a bit too tangy.

Had the steak and cheese wasn’t to bad but wasn’t what I was expecting.I put my own Mustard on cause they only gave 2 small squeeze packets .Also got the sampler which came with Brisket,Pork & Chicken with 1 side i chose the Beans also got 2 sauces the original and Moonshine both were good but peferd the Moonshine. As far as the Smoked meats they were Good & would probably get anything smoked got the Cole-slaw didn’t have much taste but was eatable if that makes sense.Over all Not a Bad place to eat .

What a gem! Right off the road, stopped for some munchies, got some Barnard rolls – did not disappoint- I was skeptical when told it was an egg roll stuffed with brisket pork and chicken three for $10. Would come again!

Some of the best barbecue I’ve had north of Georgia and east of the Mississippi. The prices were fair, the food was hot and fresh, and the staff were super friendly. Will definitely be stopping in again when I pass through Maine. Got a pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, Dr pepper, and baked beans with two sauces. All this for less & a soda than 20 bucks, I ain’t about to complain.
Just remember to bring a bit of cash if you plan on tipping. The visa machine doesn’t take tips.

Delicious, Veteran owned roadside eats! Enjoyed the sampler with pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket and ribs with choice of two sauces and a side of French fries. We split the sampler and it was the right amount of food! Will definitely return when in the area again! Sat at the picnic tables with our pup who enjoyed a hotdog! Thank you!!!

Called in our take out order. 20 to 25 minutes is the average time given to pick up the order. They have a good menu to choose from. My wife likes the bbq sampler- chicken, pork and brisket with a side of beans. I get the half rack of ribs with fries- they are good, usually fall off the bone with good smoke flavor. We have eaten here four times and have not been disappointed.

The Outpost serves up some of the best barbecue foods in Maine. Every bite is better than the last. Each flavor pops and compliments the others. The entire menu, while limited, is made to perfection.
This small eatery does everything right. There are some benches and tables to sit at. They have the standard soft drink selection in cans. There is ample parking.
Eating at The Outpost is all about comfort food. You’ll find yourself going back again and again because choosing one meal is deliciously difficult. The staff brings the small-town, Americana vibes. If you’re near Farmington, be sure to put The Outpost on your to-do list.

Everything about this place is amazing. The food is sooooo good. We got cheese fries with chicken, the chicken was smoky greatness. The pork egg rolls are great and the bbq sauces are amazing! If you’re in the area looking for the best lunch this is the place for it. The decor and friendly staff are equally as amazing as the food. There’s a great little covered picnic area for you to enjoy your food on as well.

I’ve driven past Outpost BBQ countless times and always noticed the parking lot full—clearly a good sign. I finally stopped in last week, and I’m glad I did! The food was absolutely fantastic.
We tried the ribs, brisket, and chicken, and honestly, it was hard to pick a favorite. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the chicken had a deep, rich smoke flavor, and the brisket was incredibly moist and flavorful. Every bite was a reminder of what great BBQ should taste like.
The quality of the food, combined with the welcoming atmosphere, makes this place a new favorite. Can’t believe I waited so long to try it. I’ll definitely be returning soon
