We stopped in on a Monday evening after a full day at Gore – only area restaurant that was open and can’t say enough good things about The Place. We received a warm greeting at the door and sat fireside. Best seat in the house! The hospitality, value and food quality was top notch. Don’t skip on the chicken parm. Tender, cheesy and delicious!

Very busy, but still incredibly slow even making allowances. Pasta sauce very tasty but really, really runny & way too much of it. More sauce than pasta. Mussels good but many shells broken & pieces of shells hard to find in pasta. Clam chowder was great. Really loud, hard to have a conversation. Not recommended.

Stopped here while on a trip thru upstate New York. The Place has good reviews so we decided to stop in. The place was packed with people which was a good sign. So much so that we had to stand and wait for a good thirty minutes just to get seated. Which was some what forgivable seeing how busy they were. After ordering our food though, it took about an hour or more before we actually got our food.
I ordered the Place Chicken Parm. Which I expected to be good, since it seemed like a restaurant specialty. Unfortunately I was rather disappointed.
The sauce had a good flavor, which I enjoyed. Sadly though, the sauce was way too watery. This in turn made the chicken soggy. The noodles where probably the best part of the dish. They tasted good and were cooked perfectly. As for the chicken it was a decent size, but tasted bland, like it lacked seasoning.
Overall I was disappointed with my meal here.

This small American Italian restaurant has been in my family for over 20 years! The Owner Amy Fox is the most hard working women I have ever met! She works day in and day out to prep the food from scratch all by herself. She puts her heart and soul in to ever dish that leaves that kitchen on a daily basis, with a cooking staff of only three people. Yes mistakes happen and things get backed up but Amy will do everything in her power to make sure you enjoy your time at our little Place in the Adirondack Park. So stop on in to give it a try and say Hi to Amy!

We walked in hoping to have dinner. We were met with rudeness. We were a party of 5 and the person working actually said that she didn’t have a crystal ball to know we’d be coming and how could we possibly seat a party of 5. The place smelled and reminded me of a basement hangout from the 70’s. Happy to go elsewhere.
And yes – in response to owner – yes indeed it was The Place. Every time we come stay in Chestertown/Loon Lake, we drive by and remember how rudely we were treated. This really happened. At The Place. 🙁

Don’t let the decor fool you. It might be dated but the food is plenominal. The home made sauces are incredible. Pasta is cooked aldente. They don’t play around. Great little local spot.

The veal marsala is probably the best thing on the menu in my opinion. I have been here many times and when it is incredibly busy they do struggle a little bit to keep up but everyone is always friendly. You really cant find much better Italian in the area. I cannot wait to go back soon!
