On December 24th, we went to this wonderful restaurant in downtown Louisville, and I truly regret not writing this review sooner because the food and the experience were absolutely incredible. The fried calamari was wonderfully crispy, and it was clear that all the food was fresh; the salad and the lasagna were amazing. I had pork chops, and for dessert, we shared a panettone that was absolutely heavenly. The customer service from our waitress was wonderful, and we had the pleasure of meeting the restaurant manager, Mr. Parnica, who was incredibly attentive and treated us with admirable courtesy. He told us about how all the food is prepared like they do in Italy using his Nona’s recipes and I must say that our experience was unique everything reminded us Italy. It’s one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Louisville so far, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to go. The food and the experience were simply wonderful. Thank you Niko for making our Christmas Eve unforgettable.

The space is nice, but loud so conversation was difficult. My husband appreciated the tvs because his football team was playing. The service was subpar. Our waitress was hard to track down. Drinks were ordered at the same time and none of them were brought out together. My wine took an unacceptable amount of time to get to our table. Long past the time the others were brought. I’m pretty sure she forgot about it. The bread basket they bring out to start you off is very light on bread. We asked doe more and they didn’t bring more but if they gave you enough the first time we would’ve been satisfied. Ok. On to the food. All of it was good. The pizza, eggplant parm, spaghetti and meatballs, etc.

If I could leave negative stars I would. This was quite possibly my worst “fine dining” experience. We had reservations for 7pm. We were actually sat at 645. At 8pm we still had not ordered. At 845 we still did not have our entrees. Someone tried to bring dessert to our table before we had our entrees. Our food finally arrived and was undercooked. To the point we couldn’t even cut it. Sent it back and asked for the manager. When my salmon came back I am fairly certain it was placed back on the same plate as the first attempt. Vegetables were cold. Finally nearly 3 hours after arriving we look at our check and we were charged for a bottle of wine instead of a glass.
The table behind us left without their meal because they had been there 90 minutes without food. The table next to us didn’t eat their pizza saying it tasted like rubber.
At this point I just hope we dont get sick from what we did eat.
The wait staff were busting their arses Trying to make it right. This was 100% mismanagement of kitchen and the restaurant.
10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND

This place is amazing. Simply amazing. We were sitting at another bar pondering what could be when a little google search of restaurants near me unveiled this wonderful gem. After drooling over the menu and drinks, we excitedly made reservations for an hour later so we could run home to change into fancy dinner clothes (because why not?). From the greeting at the dinner, to being escorted to our table, to the drinks, the scrumptious main course, and the dessert…all could not have been better. The service was above and beyond – not pushy but very attentive. The food was other worldly! We started with the perfectly fried arancini – so delish! My friend had the ossobuco and I had the gnocchi. Both were wonderful – but the flavor of the ossobuco was insane. To finish, we each had a dessert. He had a rich and velvety tiramisu and I celebrated my birthday with an amazing slice of lemon torta. I WILL BE BACK and often. This place might be my new favorite. And, do yourself a huge favor…get the espresso martini. It’s the BEST! Thank you Benfinita for a lovely evening and treating us like the only people in the restaurant, it was truly an experience.

If you’re planning a date night in downtown Louisville, Benfinita is the perfect spot. Located in the heart of Fourth Street Live!, it has a romantic yet relaxed atmosphere that feels refined without being stuffy. It made our night feel really special.
We started with the focaccia and it was incredible. Warm, fresh, and full of flavor, it set the tone for the entire meal.
I ordered the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful. My fiancé had the salmon and loved it. You can really taste the quality and care in every dish.
For dessert, I had a latte, my fiancé had an Americano, and we shared the tiramisu. 10 out of 10, easily the best in the area.
If you are ever in downtown Louisville, you need to try this restaurant. We will definitely be back.

They have a great authentic Italian menu and a fine wine list. What’s even better they can prepare most dishes gluten free! I went twice during the week and the speed of service was disappointing. I must compliment Nick, my server, who seemed very knowledgeable regarding dietary restrictions. He was very attentive and checked on me many times during the evening. Overall, I would recommend this place for good Italian cuisine.

The manager of the establishment was very friendly as was all the staff. The ambience of Benfinita was well appointed. Music was not too loud. The seats were comfortable. The table is spacious. The food was exquisite all freshly prepared. I appreciate it how each different dish you could truly taste all the spices and ingredients that were in it we will definitely be going back again when we visit Louisville again. It just was a very welcoming atmosphere.

While visiting Louisville, Kentucky, we had the absolute pleasure of dining at Benfinita, and it was truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had.
From the moment we walked in, everything felt special. The food was simply outstanding, beautifully presented, authentic, and full of flavor. I ordered the salmon, and it was absolutely incredible, perfectly cooked, fresh, and packed with flavor in every bite.
The drinks were excellent, and the desserts were unforgettable. The cannolis were amazing, especially the one with orange peel, the balance of sweetness and citrus was perfection. You can truly taste the passion and quality in every detail.
Our waitress, Jaylinn, was incredible. She was attentive, warm, knowledgeable, and made us feel completely taken care of throughout the entire evening. Her service elevated the experience even more.
To make the night even more memorable, the manager came to our table to personally share the roots and story behind the restaurant. That level of hospitality and pride is rare and deeply appreciated. It made the experience feel personal and meaningful.
Benfinita is not just a restaurant, it’s an experience. If you’re in Louisville, this is a place you absolutely cannot miss.
We will definitely be back.
