We had dinner at Trattoria Roma in Shelton a few weeks ago and it was a really great experience from start to finish. The restaurant has clearly been updated and the atmosphere now feels much more intimate and comfortable. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax, have a conversation, and enjoy the meal instead of feeling rushed.
The food was excellent. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared, and you can tell they take pride in what they serve. The portions were generous without being over the top, and the flavors were exactly what you want from a good Italian restaurant. My wife and I were really happy with what we ordered.
What stood out just as much as the food was the service. The staff was very considerate and attentive without hovering over the table. They checked in at the right times and made sure everything was taken care of throughout the meal.
Overall it was just a very enjoyable night out. Between the updated atmosphere, the quality of the food, and the friendly service, Trattoria Roma has definitely become a place we’ll be going back to again. If you’re in the Shelton area and looking for a solid Italian dinner in a relaxed setting, it’s absolutely worth checking out.

What an incredible dining experience! Trattoria Roma is a true hidden gem family-owned and full of warmth. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like part of the family. The service was outstanding friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring.The food was absolutely amazing flavors that taste homemade with love. The penne alla vodka is a must-try perfectly cooked pasta, rich and creamy sauce, and just the right balance of flavor. Every dish we tried was fresh and delicious.
You can really feel the pride and passion this family puts into their restaurant. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel right at home. Highly recommend Trattoria Roma for anyone looking for great food, great service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere!

My husband and I happened upon this marvelous restaurant last night. We had originally planned to dine elsewhere and made a quick change of plans. Fortunately, we ended up at Trattoria Roma. This is a family owned and run restaurant which provides absolutely delicious food and amazing service. The atmosphere is intimate and warm with inviting decor. That is the prelude to the superb meal that awaits you. My husband had the veal Parmesan, which he stated was the most delicious and tender he has ever had. The portions are very generous. I am a fan of eggplant Parmesan and have been disappointed many times, but I always try it at a new restaurant. I hit the jackpot!! The eggplant was absolute perfection. From the moment we sat at the table we were greeted warmly, received a plate of delicious bread with oil and garlic for dipping, The meal arrived in a timely fashion. Our palettes were in Nirvana. A gem of a restaurant hidden in the White Hills Shopping Center. We went in December looking for a reprieve from our hectic holiday schedule. The restaurant was tastefully decorated for the season, the waiter was attentive and professional, the food and drink were excellent, and the price was fair. We had a relaxing dinner and wondered why we hadn’t started coming there sooner. We will definitely return soon.

Our family goes here for dinner every Tuesday for our weekly family dinner. The food is always so consistently delicious and our waiter Greg is just the best. We feel like family here and this restaurant is a gem. The prices are so reasonable and they even offer half priced bottles of wine on Thursdays. The owners are wonderful and we are so lucky to have this restaurant in our town.

Just went last week and it was my first time at this restaurant in 10 years. The new owners who took over 2 years ago were there and even though we came in for dinner about and hour before closing they made us feel very welcomed and at home. The food was outstanding on every level. The service was so great and they were very friendly. This will be our regular spot for Italian food in Shelton.

The atmosphere and service is excellent, however the food…. My family of four never ever reaches for the salt at a restaurant, but here we all did. The flavor just wasn’t there. So disappointed in the food given how nice this restaurant is. I would think it was just that I ordered poorly, but all four of us ordered different dishes plus appetizers, and all of us felt like it was sub-par and lacking in flavor.

Possibly my favorite restaurant in the USA. Not a hollow compliment, as I travel around the nation for work. Service is impeccable as is the food. My server remembered me from my visit last year and the food was still awesome. Ingredients were fresh and the value for the meal is quite good. Eating at small neighborhood restaurants like this is always a treat when they are this good.
