I’ve tried the Fujiya Chashu Ramen and the Volcano Ramen, and both are dependable choices. The chashu is made from sakura pork, nicely seared and braised with a good balance of lean and fat. The broth is rich but not heavy, smooth and easy to drink. If you prefer something comforting and mild, go with the Fujiya; if you like spice, the Volcano has depth without being overwhelming.
The yakitori is the highlight. Everything is grilled over charcoal, and you can smell the smokiness as soon as it comes out. Standouts for me were the grilled eel (slightly caramelized, tender), scallop skewers (sweet and juicy), pork belly skewers (crispy outside, juicy inside), and the charcoal-grilled squid with a nice chewy texture.
Overall, it’s a good place to come back to when you’re craving ramen and a few skewers without committing to a full dinner. Dinner has more of a classic izakaya feel, but lunch works well if you know what you’re ordering. Parking is easy with plenty of plaza spaces.
The owner lived in Japan for over a decade and is fluent in Mandarin, Japanese, and English! Had a wonderful time chatting with her and learning more about her background. Please give this place a chance – you won’t regret it!
Eight Skewers Platter
The chef’s selection gives you a quick sense of their yakitori level. Chicken wings, chicken thigh, pork belly asparagus roll, pork belly skewer, Japanese shishito pepper, Japanese sausage, duck gizzard, and chicken heart. Eight skewers for 22.5 dollars. The grilling was excellent with slightly charred edges and juicy centers. I loved the sauce too with a perfect salty-sweet balance. The chicken wings were outstanding with crispy skin and lots of juice. The scallop skewers looked amazing as well.
Ramen
Since it’s a ramen shop, ramen is a must. We tried the Fujiya Chashu Ramen and the Flaming Mountain Ramen. As the name suggests, Flaming Mountain is the spicy one. They use Sakura Pork so there is no gamey smell at all. The fat-to-lean ratio was perfect and the pork was nicely seared. The broth was rich and layered. These two are definitely the signature bowls you should try on your first visit.
Grilled Norwegian Herring
My husband is a grilled fish lover, but many restaurants take shortcuts and use frozen fish. This place uses Norwegian herring, which tastes fresh and clean with excellent texture. It would be perfect on a winter night with friends and a drink.
Cold Tofu
A simple but delicious side dish. Fresh tofu topped with bonito flakes and okra with a splash of soy sauce. Very refreshing and the best companion for yakitori.
Unagi Rice
You can already tell how flavorful it is just from the photo. Their tableware is well chosen too and the small wooden box is so beautiful. The unagi has a bit of smoky char and the sauce is a balanced sweet-salty glaze. The warm eel fat melts into the rice and you finish the whole box before you notice. It comes with miso soup so it feels like a set meal.
They also have a big selection of drinks, but since we came on a weekday to run errands, we skipped alcohol. The place was nearly full even at lunchtime and you can tell many guests are regulars who chat with the staff. Maybe that’s why they are willing to open yakitori service during lunch. People like me will come just for the charcoal aroma. Overall, we loved everything and would absolutely return.

Well-executed yakitori with excellent charcoal flavor and good quality ingredients. Everything felt intentional and well balanced.
