A little place worth finding in Pewaukee. First time diners, we tried a bit of many dishes, and can absolutely say this is traditional German food. The owner, Mat is doing his Oma and mom (Bo) proud, and I bet this place is especially in the summer when the food is not the same old options up and down the Pewaukee shoreline. With outdoor service and seating in warmer weather, and now a cute little indoor dining room, I am glad I took the time to stop for dinner.
We tried the chicken and pork schnitzel, both bunless; the Curry Wurst; Pretzel bites; Spätzle; Oma’s Potato Salad; and Sprecher’s Root Beer, of course. However, beer is also on the menu, along with other options. The menu is not huge, but if you like or want to try true German dishes, stop in. The pricing is fair, and the owner is very nice.
They use the all-natural Wisconsin Gold Tallow for cooking, and I just learned about it and how it makes dishes so tasty. And it is even great for facials!

I have been on a quest to find the best bratwurst in the Milwaukee area. Just this week I had brats at The Milwaukee Brat House, The Old German Beer Hall, and here at Bo’s Schnitzelbunker. They were all excellent, but Bo’s was clearly the best. The Stiglmeier sausages Bo’s uses have no nitrates and use both veal and pork…and the preparation and presentation were next level. I also tried the chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and it was outstanding, as was the potato salad (it had a hint of dill). The owner was very personable, professional, and super nice to both my elderly parents and he told us that “Bo” is his Mom, and the food is all prepared with her recipes. This experience was a 10/10. I’ll definitely be going back.

Mat catered my rehearsal dinner in August and it was an amazing experience. Not only was Mat super communicative during the planning process, but he has some of the best German food! I highly recommend hiring him for your future catering needs. You will not regret it. Thank you Mat again for being so awesome. Our wedding weekend wouldn’t have been the same without you!

Some things cannot be described and must simply be experienced. I really love this place. I enjoy supporting the “little” guy and it is even better when the food is top notch – and it definitely is top notch. The ultimate test for ethnic food is whether or not it takes you back to the origin country. I definitely feel as if I am eating in Germany whenever I come here. A true treat!

Lastly, they have beers and sodas which I cannot find anywhere – even Total Wine. Just love this place!

Found via Seed Oil Scout – This restaurant is absolutely incredible. Food is Seed Oil Free, Safe Fries, Beef Tallow, PFAS safe & Local. Some of the best food I have ever had.

What we order & pictured:

Traditional Schnitzel Sandwich
With Kaiser bun – incredible

Traditional Schnitzel Sandwich
With Pretzel bun – amazing

Large Pork Schnitzel Fingers – Crisp & Juicy!

“Classic” Bratwurst – Bun was amazing and the Bratwurst is delicious

Sauerkraut side – Some of the best I’ve ever had

Cheese Pretzel Käsebrezel (Not pictured we ate too fast!) – Warm, soft and amazing texture

Cheese Bacon Pretzel Käsespeck-Brezel (not pictured we ate it too fast!) – Texture and taste was incredible

Bo’s Curry Ketchup – Very interesting flavor or profile but amazing, recommended

Potato Salad – Homemade and taste is extremely defined

Black Forest Cookie – Soft & not over-baked

Everything was amazing, no stomach issues and the food is made with a lot of care and love. The owner is from Frankfurt, Germany. I can say with certainty that this is better than all of the places I have eaten in Germany & Austria. If you want authentic Germany food – I suggest going here. Danke, mein Deutscher Bruder

The owner is a fantastic guy—super personable and clearly passionate about what he does, which makes the experience even better. The food is cooked to perfection, though I do wish the flavors had a bit more punch.

One downside, especially for those concerned about their diet, is that not everything is seed oil-free. The fries, for instance, are cooked in seed oils, which can be a dealbreaker for some.

The inside dinning is very tight and not the best setting. Th owner did mention that they are opening outside dining the weather is good.

It was just the cutest little restaurant I’ve been to in a while. I had the build your on Snitchzel Sandwich, I choose a Kaiser Roll, with Pork, and added Bo’s Special Sauce (curry ketchup) and lettuce. I ordered the potato salad as my side. The Snitchzel sandwich so good. The pork cooked perfect with I nicely grilled bun, the lettuce gave a little freshness and the curry ketchup was the start loved it. The potato salad was different lots of herbs got a big portion size, but there was a spice I didn’t love in it, but it was good but I want to try the other sides. The service was great, the young man was very nice and helpful. The one downfall is the chairs. They aren’t the greatest, but for size shop it is, they are doing the best to maximize there seating space! I will be back for another sandwich and to try more sides!

Excited to make this a regular stop! I’ve been craving good Schnitzel and Currywurst since traveling Germany last summer. Schitzelbunker did not disappoint! Having Paulaner Sunset in the US was a treat as well! I am excited for the future of this business!

I finally tried Bo’s. I got a chicken schnitzel sandwich and it was fresh, hot ,and definitely looked hand breaded. The homemade ketchup was very good. I got potato salad as a side and it was fresh, tangy , and delicious. The owner was cooking and was very friendly. I highly recommend for take out!

Not sure how we’ve been sleeping on this place! We ordered through Ubereats and the food was amazing! I got a chicken schnitzel sandwich with the potato salad and my husband had the curry wurst and a pork schnitzel sandwich. Worth the prices with much of the food being locally sourced and made from scratch. The portion sizes were generous, the photo does not do it justice how big the sandwich was! The potato salad size was about as big as one you’d get in the grocery store.
