There are a lot of comments from people who don’t like NY style pizza, so to set the record straight this is a great NY slice. It’s got the well cooked crispy crust with a proper bite/chew to it. The mozzarella has a nice mild flavor and the sauce is more robust than sweet. Italian seasoning comes out well and pairs great with the red pepper flakes. The layout and location make it have a good mom and pop atmosphere with a cool NY graffiti vibe.
Lots of small tables to sit and a high stop counter with bar stool seating.
I do agree that since ny style pizza has thin crust, it’s gonna be better to have it straight out the oven (asap) or by the slice.
If you love NY pizza, you have to try it for yourself!

I agree with some of the previous reviews that this place has the worst pizza ever. It has no flavor, the dough was not fresh-made, and it was chewy, like eating a piece of cardboard! The crust was over crispy and so hard to chew. It must have been coming out of frozen and reheated. And considering they actually sell frozen pizza, we believe it likely was previously frozen…. I tried to compensate by adding a lot of my own seasonings to make it more edible. We even ordered our pizza with garlic, but although garlic was visible (from the jar) it had absolutely no garlic flavor! So, the chopped garlic must have been old. It is supposed to be New York style pizza, but the way they advertised and labeled it on their menu as selling NY style pizzas is misleading. It is not even close to an original NY style pizza. It is definitely the worst “pizza” I’ve ever had. I am glad I did not order anything else. It was overpriced, especially considering the low quality we got! 100% do not recommend this place.
UPDATE: Also, when it arrived, it was already cold. And we didn’t notice until later that the box had another scratched-out name written on it, then our name written next to it, which makes us suspicious that the pizza we received came out of the fridge from a previously returned or cancelled order….

My new go to spot during a bike ride. Slice was delicious! Fountain machine to refill water with ice too. 10/10 spot and the guy was super friendly! Super affordable too!

The atmosphere is alright. Could use a good wipe down and push a broom and mop through. The man behind the counter was the owner and very passionate about his pizza. Very knowledgeable and personable. Slices were big, crust well done and toppings were proportional and generous. It was good new york style pizza but didn’t really live up to the hype of old school new york pizza when we ate it. I’d recommend going and trying it yourself to support a local family owned business. The Detroit and thinner Detroit style (I forgot what it was called) were really good but I’ve had better in Edison Park. The thin cheese and spicy slice were okay. For 3 thin slices, 2 thick crust, 5 garlic knots and a soda I paid just around $38 which is alot of money for items I was a little disappointed in from the hype.

From a fellow New Yorker, solid pizza. The pasta slice is my go-to along with the Fruit Punch Hi-C on tap. Grab a slice. Booya!

Great advice: double-check your orders before delivering them. I ordered a pizza: half cheese, half ham, pineapple, and jalapeño. It was for my son and me. My son doesn’t eat anything spicy. When I picked up the pizza, I didn’t double-check it because I trust their work (poor choice of action). I got home and the entire pizza had jalapeños. I called them and told them my pizza was cooked poorly, and they said it wasn’t true. I have the receipt, and I know that’s not how I ordered it. The guy was still doing the same thing. It’s too bad they have people working there who don’t provide solutions to problems. The pizza is good, but they don’t make it the way the customer orders, and the employees don’t provide solutions and answer poorly. I won’t be back.

Classic Highland Park staple selling New York style pizza slices along with various other sides and Italian dishes. The slices that are on display range from simple cheese to slices with combinations of various interesting toppings. This was the first and only place I’ve tried a slice with pasta on top and I was not disappointed!

I come here to vent my frustrations about the hit game Destiny 2, and usually get a slice or two. I instantly feel better knowing that the pizza here is delicious, featuring five crust flavors, tomato delicious, and cheese of the dinner. The staff is amazing and I always feel welcome, staying around an hour to talk and further vent about the state of Destiny 2 and its developer, Bungie. New York Slices is the first place I’d think about going to if I want a quick slice, ranging from a variety of ready pizza with an assortment of toppings. But don’t get me started with the cookies, baked fresh daily as I continue complaining about the balancing issue with the One Piece Card game and the terrible pace of the show. Even through my worst days, I know I can always count on this place to brighten my day.
