I’m going to preface this review. We had a nice time at Vida. The food was solid and the ambiance was nice. I liked the space a lot and the staff was very nice and attentive. If it was a little less expensive, I would have given them 4 stars, but I am a firm believer in assessing a place not solely on the actual food and ambiance, but also whether the price matches the product.

The inside is nice. Interesting decor that sometimes seems a little at odds with itself (couldn’t figure out if they were going for a romantic gothic vibe or a modern hip vibe, but I liked it regardless). The wait staff was very attentive and nice. Honestly, service was definitely 4-5 star level.

On to the food. So the food is tapas, but they also have big main entrees. They’re also known for their charcuterie jamón products and we were tempted by the charcuterie, but opted for a number of smaller plates and splitting one entree.

We got the zucchini blossom, the pork belly tacos, the pan con tomate, and the patatas bravas. For the entree we got the beef cheek. We also got a side of the mushrooms.

The zucchini blossoms were very nice. Definitely the best tapas we got. Flavors were solid. The pan con tomate was very vinegar-y. I love vinegar, so I didn’t mind it, but it was overwhelming. The bread also didn’t hold up to the topping. It needed to be toasted or thicker. The potatoes were perfectly fine, the flavor was nice, but the potatoes themselves should have been crispier. The pork belly tacos were a huge disappointment. We couldn’t even taste the pork belly. The slaw overwhelmed it and even when we took the pork belly out for a bite, it was basically flavorless. The tacos were also $22 for two small tacos so it was disappointing.

The entrée was nice, but not cohesive. It felt like they made each element separately. The meat was cooked very well, albeit could have used more seasoning. The mashed potatoes needed more butter/cream. They weren’t particularly creamy and felt like the potatoes took on too much water during cooking. We liked the meat, but for an almost $50 dish, this was not meeting the standard. The side of mushrooms was nice. Not my favorite, but my partner loved them (and he ordered them).

Overall, if the food was in a slightly lower price point, I’d definitely go again. Other than the pork tacos (and maybe it was an off night), everything was solid. We had a drink each (one glass of wine and one beer) and the bill before tip was just under $200. It was a nice vibe for date night and a solid 3 given the price point.

Wow! First time at Vida and can’t say enough how fabulous this restaurant was! From the moment we stepped inside to the candle on my birthday dessert.. we had an amazing time! Delicious food, fantastic drinks! Even with a small error on their end, they were happy and quick to resolve the issue and we left as happy as can be. Also, what a stunning ambiance- everything was beautiful! Will be back again and again and again! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Had a great experience here recently! The place was packed however the host saw we were not attending too quickly and took care of our drinks. The food was outstanding and ready pretty quickly. The octopus appetizer was delicious and the galician chicken dish was so good. The outdoor patio is so cool and has plenty of heaters to keep you warm.

Absolutely amazing from the food to the service. Our waitress Chloe was fantastic and had a smile that lit up the room (service with a smile goes such a long way). Went for a late lunch on a Friday and basically had the entire second floor to ourselves. The decor and space made for such an elevated and elegant experience. This a great place for a date night or get together with friends, it really caters to all. The food was fantastic and our party of three ended up ordering a variety of tapas to share. We can’t wait to go back and try more food items. Highly recommend you leave room for coffee and dessert; the churros and chocolate lava were delicious. Five stars all around!

We had a fantastic dinner at Vida in Thornwood. We were a group of ten, and from the moment we arrived the staff handled our table with ease and warmth. The service was attentive without feeling intrusive and everything came out at a good pace, which is not easy with a large group.

The decor is beautiful and creates a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The space feels thoughtfully designed and adds a lot to the experience of the meal.

We started with six different tapas to share. Every plate was well prepared, flavorful, and nicely presented. It was a fun way to sample a range of dishes, and there was something for everyone at the table.

For my main course I ordered the meat paella. The flavors were very good, the rice was well seasoned, and the portion was generous. My only small wish is that it had more socarrat, that crispy layer at the bottom you find in traditional Valencia style paellas. Even with that, I really enjoyed the dish.

Overall, Vida is a great choice for a group dinner or a night out. Excellent food, friendly and professional service, and a lovely setting. I would happily come back and look forward to trying more of the menu.

First time dining and will be returning. We didn’t have a reservation so we expected to wait especially since we were a walk in on a Friday night. A couch/lounge table was available upstairs upon our arrival but we opted to wait for a standard table in the main dining room.

We waited at the bar, had a drink and then our table was ready. For drinks we had an espresso martini with Baileys, a glass of the French Rosè, and a whiskey on the rocks. Our wait was about 45 minutes but honestly it went by super fast as we were enjoying our time at the bar, and it was definitely worth the wait.

Our party of 3 started off with the baked clams, and one of the specials which was similar to a bruschetta (unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the dish) and then the shrimp tacos and the steak tacos. Each order of tacos came with 3 tacos per order.

We then wanted something sweet and chose to share the chocolate lava cake.

Restaurant was lively, good volume, nice vibes and unique decor. All staff members were kind and welcoming. I look forward to going back and trying more food and drinks on the menu, I definitely recommend!
