From the moment we sat down until we finally left, my husband and I were taken care of as much as possible. The staff is incredible, kind, and fun, all while being professional as well. The chef is so unbelievably talented, I wish we could dine here every night! The food was all absolutely delicious and the presentation was stunning. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough!

This restaurant is a true hidden gem. The atmosphere is quaint and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall charm and making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Most importantly, the food is exceptional—thoughtfully prepared, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. Every bite reflects quality and attention to detail. It’s the kind of place that leaves you already looking forward to your next visit.

We did the chefs tasting with wine pairing. We loved the experience and ambience. Dylan makes the best cocktails that I have ever had. Loved sipping a hardy beef dish out of a delicate tea cup. For the proteins, the beef absolutely is the best, hen in the woods was killer. In addition to the chefs tasting, we ordered the chicken terrine and it was top notch. We are planning to pop back in soon to try the dinner options that we different get to try.

Quaint little restaurant in Augusta! My girlfriends and I had a wonderful day visiting a few wineries in the area and finished with Dinner at Root. The service and ambiance were fantastic. Chef came out at the end to say hello, which I always love, especially with a tasting menu. Portions are VERY small and the menu rotates based on what’s in season. Our favorite was the Eclair on the staters menu. I absolutely loved the pork belly. The dessert I chose was a miss for me, as the honeycomb was way over powering and a bit peppery. Overall, if you are in Augusta, or looking to break up your winery weekend, this is a great spot to check out

Root Food + Wine was a journey of flavor combinations that I never thought of together. They work amazingly well together. Smooth and crunchy, salty and sweet, popcorn and chicken?… delicious! Everyone in our party had the seven course chefs tasting menu. Kirsten, our server, described the complex taste revelations as “a party in your mouth” and she was right. We loved the vintage look and welcoming staff. This is a top notch must try experience. All farm to table. Their sources are mostly local and all listed on the front of the menu. All of our drinks looked like works of art and, as the food, we’re all exemplary taste combinations. I’ve included, too many, pictures of everything we had. It’s easy to see why this up and coming chef is winning awards!

Wonderful experience. Root is in a converted house in Augusta, a beautifully green and charming small town. The vibe is very homey and sophisticated at the same time.
The food is locally sourced and super inventive. Lots of interesting flavor combinations.
I expect the menu options shift with the season but I do highly recommend their amazing sourdough bread and (right now) the gyoza with mushrooms, the soup/salad (basically deconstructed pho) and the strawberry basil dessert (my favorites of the evening). They offer really nice wine pairings as well.
This place is a must for any foodies in the area.
Warm wonderful staff and service.

I’ll be back to stay at one of the local inns and visit Root again.

A very unique and wonderful flavor experience. Great Old Fashioned as well. I will warn you though, if you’re hungry and looking for a nice dinner, you may still be hungry when you leave. The portions were very small. I felt like I was being served samples and I would get to choose what I wanted – but no – that was it. Very surprisingly small portions for the price. I don’t understand. I was expecting at least maybe the last course would be a decent size but almost laughed out loud when they brought out our desserts. All you see is an open plate with some small pieces of food scattered sparsely around.

BUT – It really was all very delicious.

Dinner, drinks, tax , and tip was just under $200 for my wife and I. I only chose 4 stars instead of 5 due to the portion sizes. Great place though. Great people and great service.

There were 3 of us and we chose the 3 course option for lunch and included two of the snacks. Snacks: 1. Chicken liver terrene, outstanding. Great presentation, texture and flavor, 2. Cheddar éclair, nice but not as memorable as the terrene. Starters: 1. Soup/salad – basically a deconstructed bowl of Pho with a sous vide egg yolk. The broth was a tad sweet for me but still good taste and the “salad” was locally sourced parsley, basil and mint served with the sous vide egg yolk and over a chili oil (most memorable dish for me, so good). 2. A medley of onion items: onion tarte, prepared ramp over some sort of sauce and Japanese milk toast with an onion mouse. All very tasty, could have eaten dozens of the little tarts. Mains: 1. Rouladen of smoked trout, beef and then chicken. All dishes were outstanding. Bottom line is that this is in our top 2-3 restaurants for this type of experience. Think Elaia or The Crossing. Service was very attentive without being overbearing. Inside surroundings are comfortable, outside would be special on a nice weather day.

Super cool place in a little old house in beautiful Augusta! The chef does an amazing job with his constantly changing menu and the service is wonderful. We had the three course meal and each course was better than the last! Can’t recommend it enough!
