Athena is always fresh delicious authentic Greek food! They always take great care of us. The Greek wine specials are very reasonable, and we have never had a bad meal. The hummus is fantastic and I love their Greek salad.

Never again. Ordered take out and after getting home was not my order. $70 later was told you have good food there enjoy we will credit you the difference next time you call. Will never call again, not 1 item placed was in order given. Customer service is pathetic. Don’t live close to Restaurant, not even an offer to give us correct order and drop it off.

I try not to let one experience dictate a restaurant, for many reasons. The food is great as well, when prepared correctly. The last 3 times I’ve ordered, all orders are not correct. In the past I got an attitude with the owner, now he just tells me it’s miscommunication. My girlfriend placed the order, and specifically said it clear and we reread the order to the owner, to avoid an issue. We get home and of course not just my order, but here’s was made wrong. 3 orders in past 2 months, super frustrating especially when the owner gets out of character or straight up “misheard”. Years ago, he raised his voice at me when I asked for a few separate items to be bagged separately. An argument over separately 2 gyros. I stopped going for years and gave them another chance. Seems this owner has an issue with customer service. From the reviews I’ve read to my own experiences, unfortunate a successful kitchen falls short of excellence, due to borderline dysfunctional operation/owner management and behavior.

My wife and I have been going to Athena for years. We used to drive all the way from Queens. We now drive from Nassau. The food is always excellent. The humus is the best anywhere and that includes Greek restaurants in Queens.
