Boiler Room Tavern is located inside of the St Nicholas Hotel which used to be the hospital ran by the Sisters of Mercy. The hotel is full of interesting history. The tavern is small and has a cozy ambiance where strangers become friends. The bartender Adam was informative, friendly and made excellent drinks. I’d recommend the Lemon Spritz and their well known Old Fashioned. A fun and quirky place to spend the evening and more personable than a casino.

A small room, but very accommodating to our large group! They helped us pick the best drinks! This place is local, please support it. The vibe is immaculate with green glass lamp shades, various chotchkees, eclectic decorations, steam pipes, a boiler facade, the obligatory painting of a reclining nude above the bar, and perfect lighting. Check it out! They have 40 whiskeys to choose from. Delicious.

I met a gal, at the ice carving festival, on the street under a canopy. She was nice, & promoting her business. I figured, what the heck maybe I’ll check that place out. And I did. Met some cool locals and even some out of towners and did some karaoke and had an absolute blast. For a small space the vibe was seriously awesome. This is one of those “secret spots”. If you’re visiting from out of town I highly recommend you give it a go. If you’re a local, you probably already know.

If you stay at the St Nicholas Hotel in Cripple Creek, Colorado, you definitely need to check out the Boiler Room. It’s a rustic type bar out of the 1800’s.
