Standard “Chinese food”. My daughter and I shared sweet and sour chicken and chicken fried rice. We also tried the dumplings. Exactly what you would expect it to look and taste like.
It’s not much for dining in (four tables), more of a take-out joint for sure.

This is the best Chinese food I’ve had in Manatee County. You can tell this is home-cooked and the egg rolls are and rolled. Great service; more than willing to make a special order and very kind.

Curry chicken – ok, fragrant curry, white meat chicken, too many vegetable, not enough chicken

We were very disappointed with this food today. Wasted our good money and threw out almost all the food. In 2023 it was much fresher & tastier . Wondering what has gone wrong…! Lady taking orders was pleasant . Sorry but it was terrible.

Gave it a try, but not again. Not much flavor in every dish taken. Imagine having Crab Rangoon, but NO Crab… Or Chinese rice, that I could make better at home. Or fried shrimp with mostly crust. Or perhaps beef with broccoli with beef as tough as shoe leather??? That about does it.. So not this restaurant again.

Absolutely the best Chinese food we’ve had in Bradenton/ Sarasota by far!! We’re used to having very authentic Chinese food after living in several states in the last two decades. We’ve tried many in the area since our move here but this is by far the best. The ingredients are very fresh and their cooking skills superb. I ordered Shrimp with Cashew Nuts and the shrimp was cooked perfectly while the vegetables were cooked well but very crunchy. They have 27 choices for their lunch specials and they include Roast Pork Fried Rice and a 12 ounce can of soda for a very reasonable price. They also have free hot Chinese tea. Their portions are large – I ate half and took the rest home. My husband ordered General Tso’s Chicken and he said it was outstanding. He couldn’t finish his either! Along with their lunch menu they have an extensive dinner menu. I’ve attached lots of pictures. I’m very impressed. We have chosen this as our #1 Chinese restaurant.
Due to COVID-19 you cannot eat in now but you can call ahead and pick up our just stop by and order. Your food will be ready in about 10 minutes so great if you’re shopping you can pick up to take home to eat. ❤ this place!

The best adjective I can think of is “fresh”. The garlic chicken and boneless ribs I bought were both top notch and perfectly seasoned and the meat was fresh and on point. Restaurant was very clean and the staff were friendly and delightful. Was very happy with my visit and Chen’s Gourmet. I will buy again (and again)!

Okay for most part. I ordered the following: bbq boneless spare ribs, which were very good, hot and sour had great flavor, full of typical meat, tofu and seaweed and not too thick. The egg roll was typical and decent. I ordered chicken fingers which were just okay, lot of filling and but my biggest issue was with the General Tso’s Shrimp. It was (maybe) medium shrimp that were cut in half the long way and surrounded by a ton of filling, making them appear like large or jumbo shrimp, see pics.

Probably the worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. Just ordered General Tso’s shrimp. Heavy breading and no taste. Listed as spicy- not a hint. A brown sauce of no discernable flavor and over deepfried. Seafood delicacy-again sauce ruined any flavor that could have been hiding.
