As always a great experience. I love the beer hall atmosphere.
Our Server “Aloisius” was the absolute best!
Incredibly attentive and accommodating.
The Steaks of course perfect as always. Bacon appetizer is always a good start. The Luger Beer is great, wish it came in a bigger glass though.
Dessert was the hidden Star, the Apple Strudel with a tower of whipped cream. Delicious as if you were in Salzburg to eat it.
Love this place!
They accommodated our 11 month old and he loved the steak too. Servers were entertaining him and making jokes and read every wish for him off our minds!
(If you read this, thank you to all the Staff for being so awesome)

I’ve been going to Luger for several years now (including for my birthday twice) and I’ve never had a bad experience. I truly don’t get the hate it gets. I’ve never had a rude waiter (they can be no-nonsense though, which I actually respect) and I’ve never had a bad steak here. Yes it is expensive, but which steak house (that isn’t a chain) isn’t?

My piece of advice is to order one size steak below your party size. The steak for two can feed 3 and the steak for three can feed 4 easily. And don’t forget to order the bacon. And every dessert comes with their famous “schlag”.

And remember to bring cash as they don’t accept credit cards.

We had to try Peter Luger while in New York, it just iconic, so we made a reservation for lunch. Service was really good! The steak was also amazing, being from an Alberta ranch I have to be partial to Alberta beef, but this was a close second . We also got the German fried potatoes, which were good. The house steak sauce was different than I was expecting, similar to a cocktail sauce, but it went really well with the perfectly cooked steak. We were happy we had made a reservation as there was quite a lineup otherwise. Thanks so much for the amazing lunch!

I went to the famous Peter Luger steakhouse in Brooklyn, and honestly, the food quality was excellent. We ordered a few different cuts to try them out, along with the burger, which I’d seen highly recommended.

As expected, the meat was top-tier full of flavor and cooked to perfection. It met all my expectations, as did the burger.

A special shout out goes to the French fries; they were spectacular. Obviously, you come here for the steak, but the fries were on another level.

While I have nothing but praise for the food, the service didn’t come close to what you’d expect from such a famous restaurant. The waiters are almost rude to you, as if it’s part of the ‘style’ of the place, which I just don’t get. You have everything you need to be the best, yet you fail at customer service.

In short, I think the price to quality ratio is fair, and the food/portions are very generous.

The steak is phenomenal in every sense. The dry age is perfect and the seasoning is just right. It truly is a quality steak. The portions on the salads, appetizers, and sides are large enough to share. The German hash browns were particularly delightful. The atmosphere is somewhat stale and the service is good, not great. Overall, one of my favorite New York steakhouses.

We found it worth the hype. Have had reservations for a few weeks. Sat right down when we got there. The service isn’t fast, means it isn’t rushed either, so sit and enjoy. Our server wasn’t overly friendly, but very efficient, didn’t feel rushed like in lots of restaurants. The steak was incredible. Fries, asparagus and the wedge salad were also delicious. The kid described the signature bacon as “meat butter”, also amazing.

Honestly, I wouldn’t come here again. The atmosphere is great and the place looks fancy. The food and the service on the other hand, not so great. Our server was friendly, but very pushy. My table noticed he kept insisting that we add additional items to our meal, if you know, this place is very expensive. So that was off.

After getting the bill, we tried to tip $15 because I thought tipping was the customers choice based on the service provided, but apparently not. We had to tip $50 which is insane. I don’t know how this is acceptable to these people, you’re already making tons of money from your overpriced items , but that isn’t enough for them.

Now the food, it was ok. I enjoyed the steak and the sundae, but it wasn’t worth the price. I’ve eaten at steakhouses with better food and service, where they actually don’t force a $50 tip. I’ll be seeing myself there.

What a great experience!! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Peter Luger while visiting my son in NYC. We did jit gave reservations the evening we dined however we did arrive earlier in the evening. We shared a house salad and tried the bacon to start. The salad was perfect as a start to our meal, simple yet fresh and delicious. The main course was absolutely amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection and just melted on your tongue. We enjoyed our server Mr Lou immensely who added some fun to our meal. Nothing beats spending time with those you love especially when the time you get is limited and spending a bit of that time with a bottle of champagne and a delicious steak and great service is appreciated. This experience was a treat I won’t forget and I hope to repeat on another visit to the city.

Peter Luger delivered an old-school steakhouse experience that felt cozy and down to earth at the same time. We shared the steak for two with creamed spinach and sautéed mushrooms. The steak (medium rare) was incredibly tender with plenty of rare, juicy center cuts, and the signature sauce added a refreshing contrast. The creamed spinach was silky and perfect; the mushrooms were fragrant but a bit salty. Portions were huge, easily more than we could finish.

We ended with the cheesecake and its iconic mound of whipped cream. Our server Eric was charming and funny throughout. Also worth noting: they only take debit or cash.

A hearty, high-quality, and quintessential NYC steakhouse experience!

I love this place! Great food and service always! Steak cooked to perfection. Tip for first timers, steak for four definitely feeds 4 maybe even 5 depending on how much you eat and any appetizers ordered. Get the creamed spinach and German potatos…you’ll have no regrets! Oh, and remember…CASH ONLY!
