Service was friendly and attentive- our server took away finished plates and trash quickly.
Food: We got the unagi sushi (recommend!), uni sushi, spicy tuna crispy rice to start. The rice had a crunchy exterior which I loved, as it often is a hit or miss at other places with soggy rice.
The coco loco yellowtail citrus was very refreshing and the coconut/basil spicy infusion helped cut through the brightness so well. The yellowtail was also very tender.
Other favorites include baked salmon (soo buttery and melty), snowcone roll, blue crab roll (soft and sweet crab with twang from the cheese), and fatty tuna sushi.
The spider roll was a miss (i like more crunch/leg) but everything else was amazing and well worth the price!
Great vibe, especially for dates and conversation.
Ginza sushi plate was sooooo good. Great size fish slices and really fun selection.
Ramens bowls were more than enough for kids. Donburi bowls for grandparents were perfect portion sizes.
Everything is really fresh and flavorful.
Story Time:
I went to Kopan ramen in the 2010s, when it first opened in Burbank. I had a lot of good memories there with a mentor. He always ordered extra toppings and told me to do so too and then he would pay for my meals. I really saw him as a father figure.
The last time I talked to him was when he was joining a political cult in 2016. He said anyone who voted for the other side couldn’t be a true follower of his god.
In 2023 I came out as queer and got excommunicated from my own religious community where I had dedicated 18 years of my life. Almost all of the people from that community just cut me off.
Except for one. She worked in Encino and invited me to Kopan Ramen. She told me that no matter what she was still my friend and that she wanted me to be happy.
Moral of the story. Ramen heals. Share a bowl.
We visited Kopan as a party of two adults and three children, and we had an absolutely perfect 5-star experience. Everything we ordered, from the sushi and special rolls to the tempura, was incredibly fresh, clean, and prepared with precision and delicious flavor. It was also my first time eating oysters, and they were special and tasty—a wonderful experience in itself!
Beyond the excellent food, what makes this place magical is the atmosphere. It’s a small, intimate, and quiet Japanese restaurant with the authentic feel of a long-standing establishment. Although the place isn’t necessarily designed for young children, the staff was very patient with us, and the service was excellent.
The bottom line: the value for money is simply outstanding. A fantastic experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking for high-quality Japanese food in a calm and authentic atmosphere.
Their “Kara Miso Ramen” was so delicious! It’s broth is pork based and it’s a little spicy. It also comes with two slices of pork and half of boiled egg.
Service wise, it was kinda quick and their location is nice.
It used to be that they had more Ramen selections before but even with reduced options, the choices still taste great.
This particular location has adequate parking below and behind the building. It can get busy on Friday or Saturday nights so aomething to take into account.
We also tried the Dynamite Baked Roll, which was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced — definitely a must-try. The Salmon Snow Crab Roll was another standout: super fresh with just the right texture and flavor combination.
Friendly service, great ambiance, and seriously amazing food. We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend for anyone craving high-quality sushi and ramen in the Valley!
