Happened upon this food truck by chance – at a nice grassy overlook on our way to Honaunau Bay (aka 2-Step). Ordered the 1/2 pork katsu & fried chicken while wifey ordered yakisoba. The meats were nicely fried and seasoned, tender and juicy on the inside. The yakisoba was tasty. Even the sides were well executed and delicious! The lady taking our order and the guy cooking the meals were a nice couple. Enjoyed the meal while sitting at picnic tables overlooking the west coast of the isle. This place is a great value and would heartily recommend it!

Friends who have been to Kona a lot put us on to O’z Kitchen. The best shave ice I’ve had in my life—get the mango and passion fruit combo. The chicken and fries are great too. They have outdoor tents and benches and a nice little view

Hands down probably one of the best meals we had here so far. We tend to be fans of tucked away food trucks. We got the fried chicken, beef, and we actually ended up receiving spam musubi (they ran out of chicken for a second plate). They were really sweet, had a cute setup, and honestly was surprised with the buzzers that let us know when it was ready. Chicken was tasty, beef needs a little more flavor, and musubi could use a dip for the rice being dry. Overall really good food though, and would try again.

Cute little food truck in the big island . All I wanted after snorkeling was just some simple, home-style food, and this food truck hit the spot. The dishes were clean, straightforward, not overly seasoned, and not greasy. The staff were also extremely friendly, and easy to have a conversation with!

Stopped here on way back from snorkeling based on 4.9 rating. Absolutely well deserved! Pork katsu and fried chicken yummy! Edamame nicely steamed with hint of soy sauce. Tempura perfectly done.

This is the best meal I had in Hawaii—poke included! The flavor is amazing and the food was served quickly. It tastes just as good as it looks—the rice is cooked to perfection and the flavor balance hits just the right spot. Super recommend!

This is a family run business. They have real food at perhaps the friendliest prices on the West side of the Big Island. Their weekend-only available Taiyaki (Japanese crepe-like dessert filled with delicious fillings (choice of ube, red bean, custard or chocolate) and Shave Ice are DELICIOUS. The shave ice is only $5, I would hazard to say the best value on the west side, served with syrups that have real fruit (!). Their French fries are delightfully crispy on the outside and mashed potato like on the inside. Hand cut and so yummy. The pork katsu, tempura and fried chicken were all delicious! Aside from serving amazing homemade food, it is a true family run business, and what’s better than supporting local right?!? Order, eat, and enjoy the view from the picnic tables. You will be pleased!

This place is simply amazing and had some of the most delicious Japanese food I’ve ever had outside of Japan. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The katsu pork with egg bowl was our favorite. The French fries were simply amazing and cooked to perfection. Everything we had was wonderful and we’ll be going back again this trip. I highly recommend.

Jan 2024 update: came back again and wow so yummy! Matcha and mango shave ice + a couple taiyakis were the perfect snack.
The anko taiyaki is 100% plant based as well!

2023: Went here with my family and all of the food was delicious, we can’t wait to go back. A great Japanese food find on the Big Island! The staff in the food truck are so kind and friendly too.

We got the vegan Japanese curry, katsu egg bowl, half chicken half pork fry bowl, tempura bowl, and a california roll…all of it was really, really good
I would 100% recommend the katsu egg bowl in particular, it had so much amazing sauce for the rice to pick up. Yum.
The tempura bowl had a piece of fried shiso! I haven’t been able to find shiso on the Big Island so it was really a treat.

Really looking forward to coming back here on the weekend for the shave ice and taiyaki!!

FYI this food truck is in the same lot as the Randy’s huli huli chicken, just different days.

We love visiting the O’z Food Truck. We usually get a bento, California Roll and Large French Fries!! They have the best French Fries. We also love ordering Tayaki and Shave Ice which is only served on the weekends. Highly recommend. Ube Tayaki is our favorite.
