Update: took an hour and a half but I finally got my food, I felt so bad for the worker, she was working her butt off for real
It was 1 hour until closing and I placed a “to go” order of a single footlong sub. That was all! I placed the order online using the app. It said it would be ready for me to pick up in 20 minutes. So I walked to the subway which took about 25 minutes knowing this would leave more than enough time to have the sandwich made. When I arrived there was one young male employee and a family of three he was currently ringing up at the counter after having finished their sandwiches already for them. After he finished processing their transaction he asked if I was wanting to place and order and I replied I had already placed an order online now about 30 minutes before. He said “oh. Yeah. I was just about to make that.” And he picked up the reciept/print out. He began putting together my sandwich and unfortunately had run out of the bread I ordered which was not a big deal so I had him just sub another one.
The problem was this for me: there appeared to be a very very slow night in there even though I am sure he was trying to finish closing tasks and making the order for the family of three. But I had placed my order 30 minutes before and it was supposed to have been done 10 minutes before I got there. I ended up having to wait in that subway for almost 20 minutes until he finished my sandwich after the family’s transaction.
Had he apologized or even said he was busy (or even said they dont start sandwiches that late until the customer for sure shows up) then I would have never minded at all. However, there was no explanation, no apology. Just a kid who seemed to hate his job.
His personality skills reflected that of a bored lazy 17 or 18 year old. Not a great experience for me. Sorry, Subway.
This was not a problem – – but 40 minutes later when I arrived at the restaurant – found no employees at the counter (saw one taking out the trash while I parked the car and the other employee who eventually helped me came out of the back with bloodshot eyes) and was told that they forgot to bake the bread despite our conversation, it was pretty frustrating.
I requested a refund, and was told that they didn’t know how to refund an online order and to return on Monday during the daytime to have a manager process the refund (was Saturday evening) . I explained that this was unacceptable – – they needed to either provide the sandwiches we ordered or a refund, and the employee called her manager and was given instructions on how to process the refund. This was after the employee protested calling for help, because her manager didn’t like to be bothered in the evenings.
There was no apology, no taking responsibility for the situation – – it was like we were being an annoyance for attempting to patronize their business.
There is another Subway location on the other side of I-5 that is much better managed, along with a plethora of other sandwich shops in the immediate area. Do not waste your time or money with this place.
Subway is NOT fresh.
